I am currently on a bus leaving Canberra and heading for Sydney. I have my visa interview tomorrow, and I believe I am as well prepared as I can hope for. All I can do is pray (yes pray) for the best.
This morning I saw my old doctor, and he had a look at Suporn's handy work. He needs to sign a statuary declaration so that I can get my birth certificate rectified. If it was just him, it might not be so bad, but I also have to have a second doctor do this as well. I have a second appointment with a doctor from the same clinic, but it won't be until Wednesday morning. Therefore I am coming back down to Canberra on Tuesday afternoon by bus. This is all a huge pain in the bum, but I don't really have much choice. After all that I go back up to Sydney to the Registrar's Office, and hopefully they will change my birth certificate and it will be delivered in two or three weeks. Only after all that can I then take care of the passport.
I had dinner with my friend Rachel last night, and that was nice. She is doing very well, but I felt like she was harping on me for the sins of the US. I suppose this is what happens to American's overseas, they get the blame for the actions of the US government regardless of their own particular politics.
In the US it is the Memorial Day long weekend, and so I hope everyone is enjoying themselves. My new roommate Amber is supposed to be moving in, I just hope she doesn't get us thrown out for having a secret pet rabbit. The rent is so very cheap when compared with a mortgage that I really couldn't justify buying an apartment, let alone a house. However, that suits my itinerant lifestyle just perfectly.
