I'm at the hostel in Canberra killing time before my flight up to Sydney. Here at least I can check my work email and consider my replies. I had a really nice time when I was home, the pace was very sedate, but that is exactly what I needed. I haven't measured my blood pressure before and after my holiday, but I would hope that it has gone down a bit.
My students are all over the place, one has quit for good, another is too busy to do research over the summer, a third will be starting late and two have already begun. The blame for this can partially be laid at my feet for not having the schedules prepared ahead of time, but I don't think I can take credit for unexpected pregnancies and heavy workloads. Nevertheless I will be back there soon and that should get the research back on track.
