6:00 am Wednesday 1st September 1999
Hello my little chickadee's, Steph or some hybrid of the two people here. Well, it's the first day of Spring, and will this mean anything? Will I seize this synchronous moment and put something into effect? Who can say? Perhaps I should make it a statement and say spring is here, may the sun's gentle warmth cause my life to bloom. How would I put such a statement into an act of defiance and fist-in-the-air anti-ism? I'm not sure… I will return to this.
So what am I doing up at this hour of the morning? I woke up early Tuesday morning I guess and that set the scene. By the time I got back from work and had done my usual domestic chores and then watched a documentary on SBS, I came back to my room and crashed out at 9:30 pm, which meant I woke up at 4:00 am and being unable to get back to sleep I got up at 5:20 am and have been working at the computer ever since. I sent Michelle a birthday message because today is her 19th birthday. Yes, I think she's down in Melbourne at the moment, so I'm sure she'll take this opportunity to enjoy herself as she looks forward to a glowing future. I also said hello to Shirley again and sent her an email, and now here I am working on this belated diary entry.
I have to admit, I am rather tempted to go and get an eye-brow wax and knock them into shape, maybe that could be my statement of newly invigorated Spring-induced life changes? Except for the fact that I am utterly broke it might not be such a bad idea. According to the price list, Elegance only charges $10 for a ladies eye-brow wax and shape… hmmm… well, I guess we'll have to wait for tonight's diary entry before we can see how that turns out… *wicked grin*
What else have I been up to? Nothing too exciting, just the same old lab work with me trying to synthesize some para-iodo-benzaldehyde. If I could just get some of this, my life would certainly be a lot easier… *sigh*
Haven't heard from Jen in quite a while, I presume that she is flat out trying to get her project done whilst dealing with all the problems over there in Palau. I always feel a little unsure about email, I mean if someone doesn't respond to your email, is it either because they didn't receive it or because they didn't really want to talk for whatever reason. Therefore sending a second email is a big angsty decision, because what if they got it and had just been too busy to reply? Then you end up looking demanding of their time, not a look I want to take onto myself.
Freaking mouse is playing up again… grrr
Okkie, just got the washing up done after who knows how long. Starting to get rather peckish, but I don't think the dining hall opens for another hour. I'm tempted to go for a run and exercise this bloated body of mine.
8:15 am – Good heavens, what a morning. Went for a run over the back of the ANU, around the shore of the lake and then snaking back through the university to John's. Breakfast wasn't open when I got back ~7:30 am, so I went and had a quick shower and got dressed. Headed on down at 7:45 and vegged away, eating too much and reading the paper. Jules and Susan came down and I said G'day and they left quickly, then I came back to my room and here I am. :)
Okkie, now Tuesday. I woke up early ~8:30 pm and went to have breakfast. Chatted for a long while with Anthony which was interesting. Told him I was transgendered, not a real surprise to him because he has access to the internet log for John's so my site would have come up a fair bit with me modifying my diary and other pages. So, that was cool and we talked in my room until ~11:00 am after which I headed off to work. I did one reaction, but it stuffed up because I hadn't thought it out properly. About 1:00 pm I decided to head into Civic and went to Target. I bought a bathroom scale so I could track my weight and some tanning lotion. That just about cleared out the bank account, so after that I went back to the lab. Didn't do anything particularly exciting in the afternoon, just copied some articles and set up a rather dubious reaction.
Came home about 6:00 pm and had some dinner, chatted with Jules and vegged. Watched a documentary on SBS, then came back to my room and passed out on my bed and woke up like I said at about ~4:00 am
