10:40 pm Thursday 16th September 1999

Another not so bad day today. It's been raining pretty hard for the last few hours, but has finally slackened off.
So, today in briefs… ;) Woke up at 10:00 am and got to work about 10:45 am. Worked on a few reactions as per normal, booked an appointment at 11:00 am tomorrow for an eyebrow wax and eye-lash tint, which should be really cool. It might be interesting to see how much it "opens" my eyes. I may avoid the barbecue in the afternoon, not just because of the bad food, but because I'm not sure how pronounced the effect will be… time will tell… ;)
So yeah, I got my shoes from Long-Line today, hurrah! They were my second choice, the first being presumably sold out… They're a little small, but nothing to problematic. They are black, elastic sided, sort of riding boots in size 12. I like them, because they're my first pair of decent shoes which I have been able to pick cause I liked them as opposed to being the only pair which fitted… I won't wear them to the Ball since they are more jeans type shoes.
So yeah, more experiments in the afternoon, and I worked reasonably diligently through until about 5:45 pm and then came home. It was pissing down and I got pretty soaked, but it was nice to get into some dry clothes and have something to eat (pasta –surprise, surprise). I vegged around, tried on the new shoes and did some email. I got a reply from Michelle which included her ICQ, so I figured I'd do something after dinner with that… Got all dressed up and although I had forgotten to put my name down on the list I just rocked up at 7:00 pm and grabbed a seat… chatted with Sonja and some academics and it wasn't too bad… about 8:10 pm I figured I should see what the story was with going out. Bridget and a few others were going to Workies, and I ran into them coming out the front doors… they were getting a lift in with Paul, and there was no room in the car for me, so I became the "cast-off of the cast-offs". So I went back to my room and went on ICQ with Michelle. Hard to believe, but according to the log we were chatting for two hours! It was pretty cool, and nice to talk to her. :)
So after that Susan and Jules's ICQ patterns turned on and I guessed they were home. I went upstairs for a chat, and they were pretty mellowed out. Apparently the Workies had been a pretty subdued experience, and nothing too special. Made me feel kind of glad that I stayed home and did other things, even though I always bitch about never going out… *g* still, lying between cool sheets and listening to the pitter patter of the rain is really nice, and given the recent dryness of Canberra, I don't get enough of it… ahhhhhh…
So what else? I'm on ICQ to Soba and having to organize myself to go and have a shower… feeling rather stiff… zzzzzzz…
