Phew… I'm a bit tired because I just washed my hair, and the hot water made me feel all yick.
Got woken up by a damn alarm going off, then the frigging accountant and that was at ~8:30 am so I was in a really foul mood and finally got up at 9:15 am. I got into the lab reasonably quickly and started puttering around. I wasn't really sure what I was going to get up to, but I managed to keep myself occupied. Michelle rang at about 10:00 am and asked if we wanted to meet at 11:00 am at the fountain. I said cool and worked on some re-crystallization's till 10:50 am and then cycled into town. I also rang Gloria and arranged to get my hair straightened! Finally I might get limp and lifeless hair like I want… ;)
It was really busy in town with the school holidays and Floriade on. I waited at the fountain at the Canberra Centre till 11:15 am and was wondering where Michelle was, she suddenly appeared. Apparently there had been a long delay at the Interchange clinic and she had to wait. She was looking quite well having had major surgery just a week ago or so. We wandered up Garema Place to Café Essen and plonked ourselves down for lunch.
She regaled me with the story of her surgery, which was icky but interesting. Apparently she had been pumped full of morphine for the pain and was as high as a kite on the first night after surgery. She was healing pretty well and there was hardly any bruising left around her eyes, just swelling on the forehead. I thought it looked pretty good, and there was definitely no excess brow ridging left. So we continued chatting, and after I had finished breakfast, she pulled out the glamour photo which she had had taken with Nikki. Truth be told, I hardly recognized her. I wasn't sure why, but I think it had to do with changes in the structure of her skin associated with her hormone therapy. The she showed me her photos which she had taken at the Ball and they looked quite good, I will try to get copies after she scans and posts them. Finally she got some old photos from ~18 months ago of her friends getting totally pissed in Glebe park. It was pretty funny, and right at the end were two of her. I was really stunned, I couldn't believe that she had changed so much in 18 months… it certainly gave me hope for the future that's for sure.
So after going "Wow, Oh my God!" a lot of times we chatted for more and then we decided to go at about ~12:30 pm. She had to go and help her Mum and I was due back at the lab. I gave her the photo frame and then we had a nice hug and she went on her way.
So I got back to the lab and was trying to figure how what I should do next when the phone rang, and it was Soba! She was calling from Berri to let me know that she would be getting into Canberra at 2:30 pm on Friday. I said bugger, because I'd just be getting out of the hairdressers at that point. I said that I would meet her at the Jolimont Center at approximately 3:00 pm and that we would need to go into town to go to my appointment at the Interchange Clinic. She said that would be Ok, and so that that was a relief. Then I remembered that the dinner for Michelle was on that night and asked if she minded going to dinner with a whole bunch of Tranny's. ;) She said she was an old fag-hag from way back and it would be cool. So I've just ICQ Szusza asking for an extra seat, it sounds like it may well be quite busy.
So after organizing most of Friday I got back to work. Put on more crystallization's and a few other reactions. Got some Mass Spectra back which were junk and did an half hour carbon late in the afternoon which confirmed for me that my linear analogs were real, despite what the phosphorus signal said, so that was a big relief.
After that I had a banana and was feeling weird in the stomach so I went into town and got some bread and Coke and came home about 6:00 pm.
I had some dinner and was feeling quite tired s I had a snooze till 7:00 pm when I went up and chatted to Susan and Jules till about 8:00 pm when I decide to go and wash my hair. I figured that a Friday shower will be mostly taken up with shaving and that I'd want a good clean hair for the straighten. I'm trying to be more realistic this time around, since I don't want to repeat the extensions fiasco, they set me back probably 6 months… *sigh* I just want straight non-boofy hair… Susan was saying I'd regret losing it, and when I asked why, she said "I'd lose all that volume". Aarrrggghhhhhh…
12:40 am Been chatting with Szusza and Krissy for last 1.5 hours and my back is killing me… Off to bed now… Zzzzzz…
