11:00 pm Thursday 4th November 1999
Hmmm… quite a nice day today. I woke up at 7:15 am and had breakfast. I got dressed and got the present and headed over to God's. Nobody was there yet (~8:00 am) so I lay in the early morning sun for a bit. Eventually the crowds started to arrive. By about 8:15 am there was myself, Astro, Jules W, Heather, Red, Lloyd, and Anthony. Then the birthday boy turned up with Gidget and Susan accompanying. A good time was had by all, Jules enjoyed his present especially I'm happy to say the shirt and the card. The card was for like a 7 year old boy or something, and had "A scary birthday story!" Inside was "One day you'll grow up and marry a girl". I thought it was great, and my favourite joke was that I should have changed it to "become a girl", but that I didn't consider that a nightmare! *g*
So we ate, I had a croissant and orange juice and a good time was had by all. Red wrote out a post-card which I'll give to Michelle when I see her. We wrapped up about 9:30 am or so, and after saying goodbye we headed our different ways. I went to the lab.
I put on two morning reactions, and two afternoon reactions. Between 3:15 pm and 4:00 pm I went and got my eye-brows waxed (Ouch!) and eye-lashes tinted. I had a good chat with Penny who had done my waxing quite a while ago. Apparently she had been at the Glitter Ball also! I didn't see her there, but she had a different hairstyle so I wouldn't really have recognized her, and she sure as heck wouldn't have recognized me. ;)
So that was good, my eye-brows are still a bit tingly because of how sensitive my skin is at the moment, but that should pass. I've got myself booked in to get my hair-styled tomorrow at Gloria's, spending this money is a little annoying, but I want to look nice. I only have $260 in the bank, and $100 will go on Sydney accommodation and ~$90 on the name change. Then there is the food factor. As long as I have my ticket and pay my accommodation in advance, I can survive pretty much regardless (I hope).
There wasn't much I could do at the lab after a while, so I came home at about 5:30 pm. I kicked around, played on the computer and had a shave at about 7:00 pm.
Bridget came down to drop off my camera, and we were having a good chat. She mentioned that one of the popular girls who is a friend of hers (Beck, I don't really know her) had an interesting story to relate. She works at Esprit and I apparently wandered in there one day. It must have been with Red, since this is the only time I can remember being there at that shop. She really didn't want to have to deal with the situation and headed for the back room and sent out another assistant to deal with us. I don't recall buying anything, but apparently the shop assistant had said to Beck, "It must be hard getting clothes when you're that tall a girl." Beck related that to Gidget and then from Gidget to me. I really didn't believe her at first, but she said it was true and so I have no reason to doubt her. Wow! That is just so cool! *mega smile* I was just giggling with delight after that. :)
I'm really flattered by remarks like that, provided they're true and not people joking or trying to give me a boost. I can't wait to shave tomorrow, once I get the annoying fuzz off my face, I want to see myself with good brows, lashes, face and hair! Damn, Friday night, if I look as good as I feel, I'm going to be going off!! :)
I still haven't figured out what I'm going to wear, if all else fails then I'll go for my original LBD. I'll take the coat to offset it, and I can still go Goth and fulfill the dress code. Oh, mental note. This purple nail-polish I bought, is gluggy and dries really slowly. A definite invitation to get purple crud everywhere. ;)
Hmmm… so, what else is up? Just checked my mail and got an invite to Heather's 21st in Sydney on the 11th December. Got my internet bill ~$20 and a letter from Mum which I'll have to get around to replying to. I'll probably end up going to the 21st I guess, probably just a whirl-wind weekend trip. That's the weekend when my supervisor finally gets back. I haven't seen him since about mid-August, so that's going to be about 2.5 months on the Progynova and about 4 months worth of Androcur which he hasn't seen me for. It may be a good dry-run for when I go home. *s*
You know, I think I might actually be starting to like my body. I don't know whether it's changing much, when you live in it everyday, it's hard to tell. Another good reason why I should have gotten someone to take some photos.
So, this weekend will be Spring-Out opening on Friday night, lunch with Peta on Saturday afternoon, and then a B.B.Q. at a work-mates place in the evening, and then leave for Sydney on Sunday afternoon. Quite busy. Tomorrow I want to get all four reactions worked by about 2:00 pm so I can catch a bus to Belconnen interchange and then a taxi to Weetangera shops. With money being a little tight at the moment, I'm trying to avoid little expenses which tend eventually to add up.
I'm a little worried about two things. One that the name change may not go as smoothly as I want it to, and damn I can't remember the other. Hmmm… *scratches head* I want to get the fast-track turn-around (1 hour) so I can get my license done. Doing it down here means a trip out to way pat Queenbeyan beyond the reach of public transport.
Oh bugger, it's the referendum this weekend, must remember to vote. Still undecided as yet.
Okkie, late at night, time for a young girlie to hit the hay, what a nice day! :)
