9:00 pm Tuesday 23rd November 1999

Jeeze what a day, I'm stuffed. Well, I just had a quick conversation with Susan and Jules, so that revitalized me a little. Also went up and had a brief chat with Gidget to say goodbye before she headed off for the summer.
The reason I am rather tired is because I woke up at 8:30 am and was in the lab at 9:00 am. It was a long hot day with quite a number of reactions that didn't work so my motivation wasn't too high. My skin was festy and annoying and so although I got a fair bit of work done, it wasn't particularly inspirational. I imagine it will be even less so come the full heat of summer…
So I worked away, making sure that my wage of approximately $9 an hour is well earned… I'm trying to repeat my Thursday experiment with ADAM, and although I can form the complex, the yields are really bad. I have to keep remembering to triturate with petroleum spirit before adding dichloromethane and then re-evaporating (That was a mental reminder for myself). I am pretty sure now that the mesitylene analog is a write-off.
Tomorrow is the big dermatologist appointment, not until 4:15 pm so I'll be wondering all day as to whether he's going to give the thumbs up or down. Personally if I were him, I think I'd give it another month to see if it can clean up the remaining distinct spots. The main problem isn't active pimples, but rather deep seated spots/blemishes on the skin. These may be old "extinct" pimples and those are the scars they have left behind. They aren't hideously obvious, but I wish they would go away, but I'm definitely not holding my breath.
Yay! Jules burnt those CD's I was waiting for, hurrah! Now I have them for the weekend and my collection has increased by two. "Outer Space" by the Prodigy rocks. :) Jules and Susan were out at another farewell for a colleague from his work, sounds like they had a good time. Susan also had her security interview for her new job.
I am much more perked up now, that's a pretty good example of what fun conversation will do for me these days, it seems the only antidote to the tiredness brought upon by the Androcur. I'm still considering the possibility of Progesterone, but am unsure about possible unwanted mental effects.
Finally redid my nails, I don't have any nail polish remover at home, because I'm surrounded by gallons of acetone at work and I would be insulted as a chemist if I had to buy it. ;) I think I might have challenged people again today, I even got a door opened for me(!). It was the grey top which tended (from my down-looking observation point) for my miniscule bust to be enhanced. Even walking to the shower, with a towel over my chest, one Asian student said to another in a voice I could just hear "Is that a man or woman?". That's another thing, I think my hearing has become much more sensitive than previously. The noises in the lab I keep to an absolute minimum i.e. turning off pumps and machinery when they're not in use, because it tends to irritate me and seems very loud.
Chatting on ICQ, and bouncing around to Bonkers. This is usually the state I'm in when writing to Peta. *g* I am pretty sure she is Indonesia according to what I've heard. Hope she can get the tax-free income thingy.
Ok, just wrote a big email to Peta, and it's now 1:30 am and I desperately need sleep… zzz….
