Yeah, quite a nice day and now I'm bouncy and listening to music. :)
Got up, showered chatted with Anthony who was cleaning up the computer room and scored a ergonomic mouse he was going to throw out. It seems to work pretty well. I killed my old one trying to get the cord off of it. Did the washing up and cleaned the sink for the first time in who knows how long. So I was just kicking around waiting for Mum to call and sending email. Fortunately the server was back online. I got an email from Mrs D***** who said the Georgina Beyer (New Zealand's first TS Mayor) had been elected to parliament which was cool.
Mum got here about 12:20 pm and she seemed a little taken back at first by the change in my appearance, but we quickly got talking and everything was fine. We chatted for about an hour and a half and then decided to go into town. I drove the new vehicle and it was surprisingly easy. We went to Essen for coffee and I took my usual back inside table. She was being rather complimentary and for once my skin wasn't melting off my face. Though after only about 5 minutes my arms were bright pink from the sun.
We went shopping after that, and we managed to located some bath sheets (i.e. really enormous towels) and we ended up getting a microwave because the one at home belongs to the Department of Ag. It's rather flash and is propped up on the fridge since that's the only real bit of space available.
So after that we did grocery shopping and racked up an enormous bill there, suffice to say my little fridge is stuffed. After that we came back here and after organizing everything I dragged my excess stuff out to the car and after a while saw her off. I also said good bye to Astro who was leaving at the same time. That was about 4:00 pm or so.
It was a really good time and I very much enjoyed seeing her. I was in quite a bubbly mood and that made it easier. I was dressed verging on femme/androgynous so although I wasn't trying to force anything, I did want to show myself at my best.
Had a snooze till about 7:30 pm and at that point decided to head over to the lab. I ran a few 13Carbon NMR experiments and a couple of IR experiments also. By about 9:00 pm I decided to come home and I decided to watch some TV. Nothing much on, but the cricket had finished already and so I was bored. Came back over here about 11:30 pm and here I am!
Sent an email back to Mrs D***** saying that there was a world-wide Tranny conspiracy to get just Tranny's elected to parliament… *g*
Hmmm… apart from that, not much else. It'll be two weeks tomorrow that my supervisor will get back. I hoping *fingers crossed* that if I can get all the characterization data collected by the end of this week, that I can spend the week after typing it all in which will suck royally. But still, an ever fattening pile of orange folders is truly a joy to behold. :) On the other hand, I might continue trying to get as much new material collected before he gets back and spend the week he gets back doing the typing instead… whatever.
Okkie, 1:10 am, Just chatted with Szusza, now I'll crash out…
Oh, it's going to be 26 tomorrow, and apparently up to 30 by the end of the week… oh god I'm going to die… :(
