Hmmm… unusual time to setting up for a diary entry I know, usually at this time I'm over at the laboratory. I was there earlier from about 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm, but decided I wasn't really in the mood to put in the 2.5 hours which is needed for a full run of ADAM, so I came home.
This morning was unusual in the fact that I got up to go have breakfast in the dining hall. I did so because I wasn't sure when it would be closed up for the summer and I needed to make off with some cutlery in advance. It was Ok, and I even had a regular conversation which is unusual, because with my friends gone and no-one at work to speak to really, it seems I can go for several days with out exercising my vocal chords to any extent. Breakfast before 10 am is weird for me, so I came back and went to bed only to arise at 11:30 am!
So I checked email and there was a letter from Peta wondering if I could make it to Tilley's at 1 pm. I rang her to confirm and then realized I still had to shave, get dressed and cycle there. The shave was reasonably quick and I didn't cut myself which probably means I missed some hairs… ;)
I also had to organize the restaurant for tonight, but Mosaic's was booked out and it was getting after 12 pm, so I rang Red and we just organized to meet and then decide.
So as I continually moisturized to soothe my face, I got organized and cycled to Tilley's. It actually only took about 15 minutes, and I'm sure I could have done it faster using the cycle paths. It was only 12:40 pm so I bummed around outside to cool down and then went inside to get a drink. I couldn't see either of the Peta's, so I just crashed in a corner. After a while Canberran Peta came in and sat down with someone who I hadn't noticed. So I grabbed my drink and headed over and she was sitting with coastal Peta whom I either hadn't seen or hadn't recognized.
The next 2 hours or so were spent chatting away and it was really good. The conversation naturally turned (as they always eventually do) after a fair while to matters T* and I continue to be educated. But we all talked about a lot of other stuff and it was really cool. Hopefully I didn't come across too air-headed, I think these days I just tend to be a lot more expressive when in good company.
So at about 3:00 pm coastal Peta had to meet another friend and so we all moved off. Unfortunately I didn't get to say goodbye because I turned around and she had moved off. I hope I didn't seem too rude, I will send a quick apology later.
Chatted with Canberran Peta for a while before wishing her the best of luck in Indonesia and I shooed her off as she had to re-write a big report for that day.
I cycled home using the cycle paths which were very convenient. There is a good extensive network, and I believe that in theory that they make further away places like Downer and Dickson more appealing. This is something I will have to experiment and see how long it takes.
So I came back and spent some time in the lab doing very little, and that was about it.
12:00 am - Hmmm… quite a nice evening, quite a nice evening indeed. Had a snooze and cycled in and met up with S & J and then later Red. We headed over to the Italian restaurant in Garema Place and had dinner. It was good, the conversation was flowing freely as the big thick cup of coffee worked it's evil effects. I don't think I was acting too camp, but sometimes I wonder if that's how I come across when I get a bit excitable. We chatted until about 10:00 pm and then we went for a walk down to Electric Shadows and back again. Red called her Mum on Jules's mobile and we went and waited for her to be picked up. It was a really nice night, warm but not excessively. The day was not too bad so it was pretty good all round. Red got picked up and then I chatted with S & J while they waited for their bus and when that came I waved them goodbye and cycled home uneventfully.
I chatted to Soba for a while on ICQ, apparently she doesn't remember any of last night's conversation on ICQ which was funny, I'm glad I was around to keep her entertained though.
I also got an email from Michelle which was really great, because that means she's home and well enough to do the computer thing and obviously that's really good news to hear. I will write her a reply ASAP, but right now I'm just a little bit tired and yearning for bed, so I'll do it tomorrow.
So there you have it, today was actually a really nice day. Good friends, good conversation and bearable weather to boot. :) Who knows what tomorrow brings…
