10:30 pm - Friday 11th February 2000
Ahhh… quite a nice day today I guess. :)
Ok, I woke up early (for me) now that my body clock has been adjusted courtesy of the conference. I immediately headed over to the lab as I the internet was down and I had no breakfast cereal (Note - I am generally a cold breakfast person). Ok, the day before I had success with the one-armed system I had been panicked into trying. So I had put the next logical comparison the two-armed system on to react. Imagine my happy joy when the analysis revealed about a 70% yield for what was a very crude work-up of the reaction mixture. :)
Whilst I was in the lab, the Interchange practice called and I was scheduled to be "implanted" next Friday. I couldn't get it any earlier, and all my hormone stuff has been on Friday's anyway. I went on Androcur on a Friday, I went onto Progynova on Friday, scaled up the dose on a Friday and so forth.
By then I figured I should drop by the lectures to prove that I was the good diligent conference-attending student I'm supposed to be. I made my presence known and then went back to the lab as the talks were all quite long and boring. I went into the city to get more Androcur and dropped by the Clinic because I realized I wouldn't have enough Progynova to last me until next Friday. But that wasn't a problem. I came back, went to quite an interesting talk which had computer animation, music and although out of my area was quite fascinating. Later I had to go back and get the Progynova and who should I bump into, but Megan! She was on her "lunch" break (~4:00 pm) from her new job in the Canberra Center food court. We had a very good chat and I offered to help her move back into John's on Saturday as she is a bit ill.
So I was back at the lab in quite a good mood, the NMR trace was so clean and pretty and I put on the next logical step (three-armed system) and it went yellow which was a good sign. I was very tempted to order pizza after such a good day, but figure that I should try and save some money and cooked rice and vegetables instead.
Then, to top the perfect day off, it rained! Woo hoo! The first time in who knows how long, I was just sitting around going Ahhh… The temperature has dropped by about 12 degrees, so tomorrow (if it isn't too humid) should be nice, and if this reaction works, it'll be even nicer. :)
12:45 pm - Just finished a very intense but productive chat session with Peta G. Just like old times…
