God, how the heck did it get to be this late already?!?
I just got back from Red's place doing pizza and Fifth Element (with Bruce Willis) with Susan and Jules also. As always it was nice to see my close friends again, the next social event is Susan's party on Saturday which should be funky. :)
This morning I got up early (blech…) and was working over in the lab and hurrah! First the mono, then the bis, and now finally the tris! I had to absorb the material onto alumina to filter it properly, but after everything I had a 64% yield (~0.62 g), not bad for a first try with the worst possible group. This will be a very nice thing to show off tomorrow at the group meeting. I hope it doesn't go for 3 hours like the last one… *groan*
Other things… I got a phone call from Michelle who is in town it seems, I will try and ring her tomorrow to see if we can organize coffee or a late lunch, that would be great to get to see her.
I spoke to my parents this afternoon, they will be coming over tomorrow to pick up my brothers girlfriend Gabby and maybe my brother and then me for dinner which would be really nice. I've done a great deal of socializing so far this week, S&J's place on Wednesday, conference dinner on Thursday, dinner with Peta B on Saturday and then over to Red's tonight, with more to come. Fortunately I went back over to the lab late this afternoon and prepared my report for tomorrow morning.
It was so weird, I was chatting to Jules tonight, and I said "Guess what I bought" and I told him I bought the Manga books from Impact Records, and he said "No way, I was there Friday, and when I got back Monday they were gone!!" What a bizarre coincidence! Oh well, I guess that place has most of Canberra's good comics, not that I've bought any for years, I have my old comic collection at home, I always liked (still do) the escapist way…
