10:30 pm - Tuesday 22nd February 2000

Oh dear… busy, busy, busy…
Saturday - Worked at the lab, very little excitement.
Sunday - Susan's 21st. We drove down (myself, Bridget (driver), Astro and Red) and got to Pebbly Beach about midday (approximately two hours from Canberra). Swimming was fun, as were the antics of the pair of large goanna's who had staked a claim to the left-over sausages. Susan was happy and therefore so were we. It's been so long since I've swum in the ocean (or at all), and the freedom was an unusual feeling but welcome, unlike the stares I got. We had a good time, cake was cut, photos were snapped and fun was had by all. The trip back I felt a bit tired and wasn't really appreciative of the 80's music which was being played, but we got home in one piece. Later that night I went to work and set up some reactions for Monday.
Monday - A long day in the lab, 9:30 am to 6:30 pm. So many things going on, reactions put on in hope, NMR spectra run, the usual busy routine. Came home, got woken up by noisy louts in the room above between 3:00 am and 4:00 am, that was very annoying. However, thankfully Tuesday was not too sleep-deprived.
Tuesday - Got up slightly later because it was overcast. It was sprinkling on and off all day, and that was great. On Monday I had faxed Karl Industries (the supplier of the starting material I've been waiting 2 months on) the purchasing order form, and late today they faxed back apologizing and saying that they were sending it on ASAP. My God, the relief was palpable… I'm very tempted to frame the fax… it will hopefully be here by next week.
I read Peta G's diary in the early morning and later on got an email which caused me to be somewhat concerned. The details are personal and hence I do not wish to repeat them here, but I offered what little strength and support I could give. I wish things could have turned out differently for her.
I had coffee with Nikki this afternoon also, that was good, and a nice chance to momentarily relax.
Ahhh… I am really tired, long days and not enough sleep will do that to a person. However, I can't see an immediate end to the work which is piling up except perhaps for Mardi Gras and then my birthday. Crikey, it's nearly March, what happened to the first two months of the year?!?!
Not only is ICQ down, but now the internet is as well… it's annoying not being able to check email over breakfast… oh well…
This afternoon the nylon thread holding closed the incision where I got my implant put in spontaneously undid and so I pulled it out because it was itchy. It's difficult to tell what the scar will be like, but it should be small. I hope to heck that it boosts my estrogen. If not, I may ask for a second larger implant and see how we go.
Ok, to bed for another busy day tomorrow…
