It's raining… ^_^

…and because it's raining I'm stuck indoors temporarily and having not the urge to clean this dump up, I figure I would just do a recap for the last day or so. Boring yeah I know, but hey that's my life…
Saturday morning was coffee with Peta G, and I really do not know anyone else whom I could talk to for an hour and a half and still be bringing new stuff up as we wandered off to her car. Her visit to her mother and brother had been "interesting". I regaled her with talk of my new student card and my electrolysis consultation. As I said to her, she's about the only person around who could really appreciate why I was so happy with these things happening. For something different I had decided to wear my breast forms, mainly so that their absence didn't weird people out because (IMHO) I was looking pretty good. I have to admit I was reveling in the "early morning normalcy". Just walking about the Garema Place and except for my height just being another early morning female shopper.
I bumped into Astro and we walked and chatted on the way back to College. After that I did some lab work and then snoozed and I just bummed around until it was time to get ready. I didn't want to frighten Mrs P (Red's mum) too much and so I didn't go for any make-up (except the tinted lashes which apparently make it look as though I'm wearing eye make-up anyway) though I had wanted to cover up my blotchy skin. I drove Astro and myself down to Woden to pick up Susan and Jules and then after spending some time socializing we drove to Manuka picked up some wine and headed on in.
Ok, the dinner was nice though conversation was hard because of the wide long table and I only got to chat to Red at the very end of the meal. Most of the time I was sitting between Heather and Jules and possibly too close to the normal parental end of the table for my taste.
Funniest thing for the night was me sitting down and Mrs P saying "Now you're Heather aren't you?" I think I'll take that as a compliment. ;)
After dinner it was back to Red's place for coffee, cake and too many sparklers (which set off the fire alarms). I got to chat to Pauline for a while which was nice, but not enough so I was constantly encouraging her to come back, she thought I might have been from the tourism board. *g*
After that we all departed and I drove Susan and Jules back to Woden and then Astro and myself back to College. It was during that drive to Woden that I said something like "It's just such a hassle trying to be a girl sometimes". That struck me as very true, it's not that I don't want to be a girl, but rather that I have to work harder just to appear like a "normal" girl. I mean I could always just throw on a football jersey, not bother shaving and just go to work or out shopping or wherever. I just want to look like a normal girl without having to put in inordinate amounts of effort… whatever… *sigh*

8:00 pm - I just got back a while ago from "All About My Mother". It was (IMHO) really good. As it said in the Electric Shadows handout flyer, "It's a movie about friendship, about redemption, about death giving birth to life." I haven't ever read or seen "A Street-Car Named Desire", but it might have helped a little as the movie was somewhat influenced by it. It was an interesting use of transgendered people, the movie being based around women and the multiple roles they play, and also those that take on the female personas. I think I liked the humane way that the transsexuals were portrayed, as human but with that sense of "out-thereness" that they had forced upon them. The lead role of Manuela was very well done as she became mother, mourner, nurse, mourner and mother again.
Tonight there is also showing "Boys Don't Cry", but it starts real soon and even if I drove again I wouldn't make it. I might save it for later in the week.

I just got off the phone to Soba, she will be leaving Berri on Tuesday morning and getting into Canberra on Wednesday night with a job interview for Thursday afternoon. Hopefully we can get together on Friday or the weekend and either window shop or just do coffee and stuff. It'll be great to see her, it seems very surreal that she may be living here in the same city in only a few days after three years away.
I also chatted to my Mum and Dad on the phone, apparently my eldest brother is home as he has to head down and finish tidying and closing up the house he had been renting. He will be back on his Navy boat next week or so. Also, my other brother C***** has a new job, one which thankfully won't interfere too much with his Army Reserve stuff.
