7:30 pm - Today was brought to you by the letters M and O.
Ok, today I cycled around the lake and it was pretty good. Much longer than I had expected, but I'm unfit. I also spent time at the lab and after a brief sojourn in the library, I found the most wonderful little synthesis. It was an aldehyde to nitrile conversion using no solvents, just a brief zap in the microwave to turn out a +90% yield. I immediately wanted to find a use for it. I did find some use, but only as a slight distraction from my main work.
11:25 pm - I'm bored… there's a big line of post-it notes which have to be addressed tomorrow, and I haven't done anything productive tonight even though I was supposed to put a reaction on. Oh well…
In the same way that it is scary that I consider the lab "a home", it's also scary about how I dream about molecules…
I was reading through some of the old email exchanges of Peta G and myself. Maybe I haven't lost all of my creative writing edge…
In theory, one day I suppose I should construct a glossary or index so that people new to the diary know who and what I'm actually talking about.
