Today was a nice and productive day, even though now I have a headache. It was probably the tuna I had for dinner… Blah, damn protein requirements.

5:45 pm - Saturday 27th May 2000

Oh dear, another compressed diary set, this is starting to become a pseudo-regular habit.
Anyway, I didn't get to finish last nights entry, because I wanted to lie down for a bit before heading off to meet Peta G for coffee and then to go see the late session (10:30 pm) of "Clockwork Orange". But I digress…
Friday was busy, lots of interesting data on the purple compound, some contradictory, but in the end it started to make sense. Weird counter-intuitive sense, but sense nonetheless. Anyway, Susan came and captured me for lunch, and we went over to "The Purple Pickle" near the gym for lunch. We had good long chats over food, and as we were thinking about leaving, Bridget and Heather turned up all of a sudden. We had big chats to make up for me missing coffee on Wednesday and then at 3:00 pm, we all had to split up and go our ways. I naturally, went back to the lab.
More work, more compounds, some lazing in the office about discussing what to get our supervisor for a birthday present, and then off to the Animee club. I got home about 8:00 pm and was pretty zonked, had rice with tuna (blah!) and then off to movie.
Today (Saturday) I took it kind of easy. About 1:00 pm, I went over to see Red who had been at home feeling ill all week, so I tried cheering her up somewhat. Then down to Kingston for some shoe shopping, I must have had a dozen boxes on the floor at one stage, but finally found a pair I liked, more Hush Puppies. Then back to John's, and walked over to the weekend Animee showing which was Ok, though the subtitles were really difficult to read, and then back here and some ICQ to Szusza.
Ok, "Clockwork Orange". I'd never seen it before, and I didn't even know what the plot was. It showed it's age rather badly, but I suppose some of the issues are still current, they'd simply be done differently in a different age. It did however spark a lively discussion between Peta and myself in Pancake Parlor afterwards, however my faulty memory did make it a bit difficult to call up the references I was searching for. It was a long movie, and all in all, I didn't get to bed until just after 2:00 am.
Tonight is the big Rugby Union grand final, to be played between Canberra (where I live) and Canterbury (a city in New Zealand). It's being played here, so even if they don't win, there'll be lots of booners on the streets, and if they do, they'll practically be hanging from the rafters of whatever pub they can get into. Hence I've decided to stay nice and warm here in my room.
