11:30 pm - Saturday 8th July 2000

I left Bathurst this morning at about 9 am, and arrived in Canberra at about 12:45 pm. My ankle is all swollen and painful, I picked up a flu early in the week and because I was trying desperately to stay awake all the drive back I crashed out soon after getting home and didn't wake up until about 8 pm.
I rang home and chatted to Mum and Dad and then rang to ask Red to give me a hand moving the rest of my junk tomorrow. Then some lounging about, writing a list of stuff to be done tomorrow, shaving my legs finally, and trying to do everything to get rid of this damn flu.
There is quite simply so much to say about this last week, I don't even know where to begin. I will say straight off that is was educational and uplifting on a personal scale. I met some really great people, I can't wait to get the photos back tomorrow, I will try to scan them ASAP.
My week however is also very flat out. I have my psychology appointment on Wednesday at noon, and I've been thinking about how I have to prove that I am suffering from a mental illness (DSM IV - Gender Dysphoria) before I can get the bits of paper I need. It's all very Western, the medicalization of natural things as "disorders". Then I have to get to Sydney for the City-to-Surf on the coming weekend. I'm not sure how my ankle will be, but if I have to walk, then so be it. Then getting together the chemical samples to be sent to Belgium and trying to find time to do my lab work which is my reason for being here in the first place.
I did a lot of writing in my small hand-written diary, and I am happy to see that it is nearly filled up. It's taken several years, but it's interesting to see so much of my hand-writing and how it and my ideas have changed.
Speaking of which, it's almost my two year anniversary of my diary (18th July) and almost my one year anniversary of hormones (23rd July). Time seems to have passed so slowly overall, but at the moment it seems to be whizzing past. Maybe as more things get compressed into an already busy schedule, you don't notice the time pass… oh well, whatever…
It's after midnight now, I need more sleep to beat the accursed virus inside me…
