Tuesday - I finally got the samples away. However first they got caught up by idiots in the ANU mail-room who wanted to know "exactly" what they were… like "octupolar ruthenium based ligated complexes for Hyper-Rayleigh scattering" would have been of any use…
I was also feeling quite intestinally ill all day too, thankfully this is now gone.
Wednesday - The big Psych appointment. I was quite nervous mainly because I didn't have the faintest what to expect. It was Ok I guess, except being the idiot that I am, I left my bio on disk at home! Sheesh! But it went through Ok, she thought I seemed "resilient and balanced"… God I hope so…
I did coffee with Susan, and then later that evening Susan and Jules dropped around and we ate junk food and chatted. Jules fixed up my internet connection, and then I drove them home past the supermarket to get some food.
Thursday - Work was uninteresting, but I did develop a taste for avocados.
That night Peta B and I went to see "The Complete Millenium Musical (abridged)" at the Canberra Theatre. It was really, really great. If there was more stuff like it on, I would go to theatre much more often. :) We did a late dinner and coffee at Essen, and I talked my slightly hyperactive head off.
Friday - Today sucked a lot. Really bad thoughts about my transition, low self-esteem, the whole deal. The samples got held up at Sydney, and hence will arrive in Belgium too late to be of any use for another month.
Red called and I rushed to her for a hug, understanding ear and coffee.
The day continued it's downward spiral as the German post-doc destroyed one of the solvent stills preventing me from doing any real work. It perked up slightly in the afternoon, and I did lunch with a good friend, then came home, ate and crashed.
At the moment I just want to rest. I've been going flat-out the last two weekends, and this one will be no different. A very slack weekend would be nice, but maybe at this stage it just isn't practical.
I begin the CIT workshops (The singing and DJ workshops) at the start of August, but thankfully they are on week-nights, so I should at least have the weekends free for whatever.
Hmmm… my limited library isn't telling me the cause of the piezo-electric/magnetic effect… i.e. the tendency for crystals under stress to produce electric or magnetic effects.
12:15 am - Sorry for the long delay between now and the next update, I won't be back until Monday afternoon, and I imagine I'll be too exhausted to do anything for a day or so after that. My sincere apology is extended to you my dear reader. ;)
