The last two days have been up and down, I've been trying to feel positive about the laser appointment, they haven't rejected me out of hand yet, so there perhaps is more hope than I credit. The problem is more being so close and yet so far… oh well, I can't do anything until I get a phone call back, so there's not much use in stressing about it. The test-patch under my chin is fine, neither I nor Red could see anything.
On Thursday afternoon, I came up with what appears on the surface to be quite a brilliant (IMHO) scheme for a new synthetic route. This would enormously cut back on the tedious nature of the extended dendrimer synthesis if it works, today (Friday) was spent tweaking the first reaction and running a tedious column, I don't have any concrete results back yet.
Last night I drove down to Woden with Red to see "Guest House Paradisio". Also there were Susan, Jules D, Heather, Bridget and Jules W. It was nice to see them all, I missed coffee on Wednesday because of the laser appointment, so it was good to catch up. I was pretty tired and trying to not show my intense frustration due to the laser place, but thankfully I mellowed after a while. I'd really like to get down to see Susan and Jules this weekend, so I may phone them to see what the story is.
It was funny with Red and I coming back (~11:00 pm), the poor little green car was completely iced over! ;) After blasting the front windscreen with the heater, and frantically rubbing with a cloth, we finally cleaned the ice off enough to drive. It was annoying at the time, but a nice little "adventure" which Red and I will chuckle about afterwards. Because, that's how it is with me relating to my friends, that don't have to say anything for me to be happy. Just to be around them gives me that inner sort of glow, nothing actually needs to be said, I just smile a lot. :) Perhaps that is what happens to a friendship after several years like now, I don't need to say "You're a great friend", but I want to anyway.
Just listening to Red rabbit on about Paul, or Susan about Economics, Jules and computers, or whomever, is what I like because while I am interested in their conversation, I also get to be around and to enjoy their company.
This is related to the trait where I won't talk much about myself unless asked. I much prefer to let friends take their pet subject and talk about it at length. I don't get bored, I find it fun to be educated, and most importantly I love knowing that the other person is really enjoying an opportunity to talk about their favourite subject.
