5:30 pm - Sunday 3rd September 2000

Yep, there sure is a lot to catch up on…

Friday - I was running around like there was no tomorrow. I didn't get a lot of work done, but my two-armed long-leg compound (sorry for the babble, some people will get it) seemed just slightly closer than before. More talking with the supervisor about stylistic issues for the thesis and so on. Red came into Uni and Bridget and myself went and had coffee at God's with her. It was good to see her, and at 3 pm I went to see if the Queer Collective was meeting. There was one girl at the Sexuality office which wasn't promising (though she was cute) and no one else about so after a bit I went back to the lab.

Later I met up with R***** and we went to the "Hog's Breath Café" for dinner. It was nice just chatting away and looking like an ordinary couple. After some coffee and wandering about we went and saw "Galaxy Quest" at 11:00 pm. It was really great, and I laughed and laughed. After it was over, we went down to the Casino (only place left open) for coffee and it was gently raining and the city smelt wonderful. We chatted more and at about 2:00 am we left and he slowly walked me back to my car, as we stood there in the quietly falling rain not quite knowing how to say goodbye, we quietly embraced and kissed each other on the cheek…

Dammit, why is it that things have to start going right just now? *sigh*

Saturday - A lazy morning, and then a quick trip to Kingston to buy some shoes. I knew exactly what I was looking for, because Peta G had just the pair I wanted. That was quickly accomplished, then into the City to buy some makeup and a few bits and pieces and then home. I dropped by the Chem Department and they were having a BBQ for Open day. I stood around being the "token female", like an observer of a peculiar male-only ritual. After that I went home and slept for a while.

Saturday was the night of the Glitter Ball, unfortunately my organization was a bit erratic, Maddy thought I was organizing a cab to get from Toad to the Ball, and I didn't think I'd said anything like that. Then my zip on my dress busted and we performed some emergency repairs and then I had virtually no time to do anything with my hair. Thankfully we got there fashionably late and it was Ok.

It was a good night, I danced with the people whom I wanted to (and who I could convince), the dinner was nice and so was the company. There was a drag act on which I found incredibly noisy and otherwise appalling, but some good singing act and a good dancing act thankfully made up for it.
There was piles of Glitter on the tables (it was the Glitter Ball mind you) and it didn't take long before we were chucking it at each other, suffice to say when it went down the back of my dress (an off the shoulder number) it was quite tickly. I danced a few times with Rob H, but I managed to keep my cool. He's nice, but not really my type. So I did some socializing, but still didn't manage to catch up with the people I wanted to meet, but nevermind, maybe there is next year.
I came home, had a shower and crashed out about 1:00 am

Sunday - Today I got up late, made a vague attempt to look respectable and after a lot of indecision went for a cycle around the edge of the lake. Then I headed over to the lab and spent a few hours there and then after coming home and bumming about I cooked some food, went into town for some groceries and that's been about it.

11:00 pm - So, I've had a snooze earlier, chatted to Mum and dad, had a bite to eat and am now figuring out what I need to do tomorrow.
