8:00 pm - Friday 22nd September 2000

Burp! About the only thing worthwhile about getting my face irradiated with high intensity electromagnetic radiation is that after it's over I get to sit at home and eat lots of crap as consolation.

OK. Today was busy but otherwise quiet. I ran a column on the ferrocene derivative I was care-taking last night and isolated some material, but as yet I don't know how pure it is.
More pow-wow's with my supervisor and that was about it. I left at 3:00 pm, and by 4:00 pm, I was lying on a couch with uncomfortable goggles and hearing and smelling my facial hair go crackle. The hair seems to be worst/most visible on my top lip and chin, and consequently this is where the most pain emanated from. The fluence was on 40 J/s (the highest setting) for virtually the whole session, but once the top lip and chin was done it was fine, my neck and cheeks weren't a problem.

10:40 pm - I went over to the lab and then to the gym and came home less about 350 Calories. I think that's good, but judging by the annoying last little bit of flab that won't budge (in the usual spot) it was good, but not good enough. Face is Ok, there's a few red spots under the skin (blood?) but that's localized to my top lip (naturally enough *sigh*). I'll stop staring at my face and go to bed, I'm sure I'll do lots more examination in the morning.
