I'm just doing my nails in preparation for this party which I now appear to be going to. My friend Peta is picking me up at 7:30 pm, so hopefully that'll give me enough time to get ready. I have no idea what the dress code is, but given that there will be a very CD contingent, I think I'll go low-key i.e. jeans and a singlet top, that's a sure-fire way of being mistaken for a regular girl. *grin*
It has been an interesting day so far. I got back yesterday at about 5 pm and after unpacking and napping I checked my email. A young CD from Melbourne had emailed me asking if I wanted to meet up. I emailed her back saying sure, mainly because I find it so uncommon to find young T* people to talk to. This morning we were sending SMS phone messages back and forth and then eventually we got to chatting on the phone and we organized to meet up at Glebe Park which I figured should be a nice quiet place.
We met up and it went quite well, I was the first other T* person she had met, and I think she was favorably impressed. We talked for over an hour on all sorts of topics both T* related and not and it was good. Eventually she had to go and so I saw her off.
In retrospect it was interesting, she had recently turned 22 and I pictured myself at the same age. I had just come to the ANU and that was the start of a a new life (though I did not fully realize it at the time) which has lead me to this point in the here and now some 3 years later. I can't help but wonder where she may be in the same time frame.
