It's been an interesting long Australia day weekend. Saturday I tried to get some work done, and I partially succeeded by staying home and away from computers i.e. pen and paper work. In the afternoon Soba phoned and she wanted to go out, so I agreed and she came over about 8:30 pm. We had a few drinks here and chatted and caught up, and about 10 pm headed into town. The first pub P.J.'s was dead but had a really noisy band, so we passed on that and ended up at King O'Malley's. They had a not so noisy cover band and it seemed like a good place ( I hadn't been there before) so we staked out a corner and listened to the band. After two glasses of wine for her and two beers for me, I dragged Soba out to have coffee about midnight since I needed a break from the noise and coffee is my preferred social drink. We chatted away and then headed back in again to King's where I boogied away with myself and various guys who came and went. The band knocked off about 2:30 am and we went had some greasy chips, walked around a bit more, but by 3:30 am most places (except the hard-core dance clubs) were starting to wrap up and we came home, she more sozzled than I.
We crashed about 4 am and got up at 10 am the next morning, I was feeling a tad sluggish from alcohol and not enough sleep, and she had to be back to meet up with her parents who were coming through town. At my request she dropped me off at the Canberra Gaming Convention "Can Con" because I had never been to one and wanted to see what they were like. I was quite impressed by the size of the affair (for Canberra), three big halls filled with table-top miniatures, Collectable Card Games (CCG) and a big LAN-fest at the far end. I looked around all three, and in the LAN-fest there wasn't a single girl (or any other girl save my curious self for that matter *grin*) the CCG room had two girls and a smattering of others in the miniatures hall. There was some stuff I wouldn't have minded getting, but I figured I already had enough junk and thankfully there wasn't a ATM.
As it turned out, I was getting a tad bored and outside the Society for Creative Anachronisms (SCA) were getting ready to do their fighting/medieval demonstration. I was wandering over to watch the fighting when I saw J**; the girl from the Queer Collective meetings. We had a good time chatting away for the afternoon, I was happy to see someone I knew (even peripherally) amongst all the strangers. About 2:30 pm I was supposed to catch a bus back to the City, but a friend of J**'s offered us a lift. J** and I went back to her place where we continued to chat and so on.
It was very interesting to talk with her, and I hope she will be a friend. From the various parts of the conversation, I feel say 99% sure that she is T*, but certainly I was not going to bring up the topic and fair enough because I believe that it would be rude to ask. She seems very talented with her hands, though she was a bit hung up a girl who had wanted to "just be friends". She rattled off a list of the girlfriends she'd had over the past 3 years in Canberra and I have to admit I was a tad jealous, of course before I'd had a terrible secret which helped to keep me alone, and now I just don't know any new people which might make that an option. I admit that I wanted her to want me, but isolation and loneliness means I want that of almost anyone. I doubt anything will happen, from what I have seen, TS lesbians generally prefer GG's for relationships. As it is, I've got my thesis to work on and keep me busy.
We got back to her little place at about 4 pm and we must chatted until 8:30 pm when I figured I should head home. I was pretty zonked and I copped a little too much sun also, so I did some basic shopping, walked home and Mum and Dad at home and then crashed.
Weirdly enough, at 11 am today I was getting money from the ATM, when who should pull up on her bike but J**. That was a bit of a coincidence I admit, but she was busy with other stuff, so we didn't chat for long.
Work wasn't fun, trying to work with some pictures meant Word 98 kept crashing and I'd have to reboot and every time I'd clench my jaw a little bit tighter until by about 3 pm, I thought my teeth would crack under the pressure, so I quit and came home. Just looking at a computer screen these days makes me grimace, hence my preference for pen and paper. Bars class at the gym this afternoon helped me to relax a bit, and I guess I'll go back when the lab is quieter tonight when I can explode with nobody around. ;)
10:20 pm - Wow, I just saw the most incredible sight. Telstra Tower stands on a ridge overlooking central Canberra, and slowly setting just off to one side was this orange crescent moon. It looked like some art piece from a science fiction book.
I almost forgot to mention, I was in Civic for a short while on Saturday, and what should I find? Not just U2's "1980 - 1990 Best of" with all the songs of theirs that I love "Where the streets have no name", "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and so on, but Sailor Moon Mini-Maxx #8! *Drool* It was a great Saturday afternoon listening and reading those. ^_^
Oh yeah, I've also been on Androcur for 18 months now, a year and a half. Doesn't look like I'll be having any kids…
