Green fingers means that you're good with plants. Purple fingers means that you've been playing with microbiological stains or, in my case, gold complexes.

Today was mostly thesis, discovering all the other stuff which still has to go into Chapter 3. I stuffed up the first synthesis of my gold precursor and thankfully was successful the second time (I only wasted 2 g). Home for some pancakes (shake and bake) and then after a nap back to the lab again.
Tomorrow there is going to be a group dinner to welcome new arrivals and farewell others. Including SO's and kids, there's going to be about 20 people, so it is going to be difficult to chat to everyone. Oh well, any excuse to escape the lab. Friday is a group meeting, followed by a farewell lunch for a Ph.D. student I am not yet sure if I will attend and then the Queer collective meeting I think. The weekend is thankfully as yet unplanned.
