Dammit, I'm going to do an update even if this sick monitor kills me…

Well, it's been a busy last few days. On Saturday morning I was wandering around Civic looking for clothes and I was in Target and I saw a rack of cameras, and they had a little digital camera complete with software and cabling. After only some minimal, token resistance from my conscience, I bought it. When I got it home however, I discovered that I need a RS-232 serial port to download the photos onto my machine. I had no spare ports, so I cycled into town and bought a dual serial port and came home again. The day was very hot (~33C) so I also bought a hat. I spent the best part of the afternoon and evening installing (the easy part) and then trying to get the computer to recognize the new ports. My unused ancient internal modem is on COM4, and so the new card was being shunted to the unrecognized COM5 and COM6. This went on for most of the evening, with my frustration levels rising. Somehow though, I got my network card to work again whilst I was poking about in the open guts of the case which was good, since I hadn't had home internet access for about 6 months. I eventually gave up and went to bed (it was very hot and humid).
The next morning I went over to the lab and saw that the PC there had ports COM3 and COM4 empty. Several trips back and forth finally resulted in exultant success! I snapped off a quick few shots and there I was, fuzzy but definitely me. :)

In my room having lunch. By this point in the afternoon I was pretty exhausted, so I snapped a few pics around campus and then came home for a nap. Later in the evening a friend called, and I know we just totally killed her phone bill, though it was wonderful to chat with her. Unfortunately a bunch of Chinese were having dinner and singing in the common room, and despite the calming effect of the rain, that was getting on my nerve, so I went for a walk with my umbrella to get some fresh air. By the time I came back thankfully they were quiet.
Today was my small presentation for the group meeting, with a potential honours student for our group there also. I danced about and tried to be a bit entertaining, but it was so humid! It was pouring like a monsoon outside and I was sweating like, like… like a guy! ;) I also choose some uncomfortable shoes, and I wasn't feeling so well by the afternoon, so I came home at 5 pm, snoozed till 7 pm, chatted with my friend on the phone again for quite a while and then phoned home. Tomorrow I plan on putting in my usual early morning appearance, and then sneaking off home where I will hopefully be less stressed.

I have to admit, I'll kind of excited to have a digital camera, mainly because it has a self-timer button which means I can try to take photos of myself in real-time i.e. not months. This way I figure I can try to decorate my otherwise rather dull entries. I'm not amazingly keen on having photos of myself floating around the net, but I figure this diary is so obscure, so I'm fairly safe. I've been meaning to cull some of the pages which have links to me, no real reason, I guess I'm just moving away from being "outwardly" TS. In the same vein, I decided against posting old boi pics, if I need to scare people, then fine I can do that in person. I don't want to disappoint anyone I feel strongly for by letting them be shocked by what I used to be. I know they would be understanding, but I'd know that they'd know, and well, I guess… um… well I had a point, but it escaped through a hole in the wall whilst I was babbling.

Oh yes, I nearly forgot to mention! On Saturday evening, I finally took the plunge and washed and then more importantly blow-dried my hair! Once I had finally figured it out, it was really quite simple. It isn't as good as what I get done at the hair-dressers obviously, but it's a lot cheaper and I can do it weekly now. It's also really good for pulling out the weak and dead hair too. Usually the escaped hair collects on the floor, on my pillows, on my clothes and so on. I was bitching to my friend about how it's a real hassle, she retorted that she has a whole bunch of wigs and it's just as bad if not worse because she has so many. I figured it could be something like, "Oh, I love your new shag-pile carpet!" "Um, that's not shag-pile…"

My current pick for music is the unfortunately titled "Air on the G string" (Orchestral suite No 3 in D). Very, very smooth indeed…. Mmmm…

Ok, I'll load this up and then crash.
