Today was Anzac Day and so it was fairly quiet. I walked into town to pick up some reprints and have a look about, nothing much was going on. I snoozed and then at 2 pm went to critique the new honours student's seminar. That rolled on for two hours and after that I went over to Menzies library. At the Faculty of Arts graduation, one of the Ph.D. students had submitted a thesis entitled "Incarnations - The sociology of transsexual prostitution". I chatted briefly with him after the ceremony and he said a copy was available to look at. I whizzed through it because I had gotten to the library only 30 minutes before closing time. It was ~400 pages long and quite impressive, I was interested in what had been written, though I didn't really see my self reflected in it. I am guessing that many of the characteristics described are a result of being engaged in sex work as opposed to being transsexual. A friend I know is doing his honours thesis on some transgendered topic which I am hoping to find out more about.
At 5:30 pm there was supposed to be people getting together at the "Wig and Pen" (Canberra's genuine imitation English pub) but in the end, only Jenni, Jenni's son Odyn, Kate and myself showed. It was nice nonetheless, and after I went back to Jenni's place to hang out for a while and gave her some photos from festival.
On Monday night the ex-John's clique got together for one last hurrah. Present were Red, Astro, Bridget, Lloyd, Jules W, Jules D, Susan, Heather, Paul and myself. We went to Three Mothers Thai which was Ok, and then to coffee at Gus's afterwards. It was an early night and I was home by about 9:30 pm. Tuesday I went to the gym for a while late in the evening. During the day I went to the Science Faculty Office to check on getting an extension of time in which to submit my thesis. The lady informed me I could get up to three years extension which was a relief, though I will only take 6 months because I won't be getting paid and I hope to be finished in less than that. Because my jeans were finally getting their desperately needed wash, I went with my old army fatigues tucked inside my black boots with a black singlet and my leather jacket. I guesses I looked kind of weird, but it's been the week for odd clothing. ;)
