Today was nice and lazy. I spent most of the day window-shopping but didn't really buy all that much. I bought some pants which were on sale plus some underwear and the latest Fortean Times. I even went to Belconnen but found little to interest me there. Later tonight I might go to the lab and check out what is on at the movies.
Yesterday (Friday) was interesting. It had been raining Thursday and that continued into Friday. It's unusual to get rain in Winter in Canberra, so I decided to take advantage of this by unleashing my gothic personality on an unsuspecting world. I wore my short black sleeveless dress, my knee-high black boots and my black overcoat and went with full-face makeup and my dark purple lipstick. Overall the reaction was "interesting", my supervisor didn't say a word to me all day long. I know this might sound vain but I may have pushed him past his "point of uncomfort" by being (IMHO) very vampy and attractive. I usually depreciate myself, but on Friday I looked hot! About 5 pm I went for a walk into town and I had a "friendly" afternoon. "Friendly" in the sense that I got plenty of smiles and glances, I guess my exhibitionist streak was getting rusty because I had a ball of a time. :)
In the past I have known a few "exhibitionists" CD's, and they have tended to make me very wary of dressing to attract attention. However, I can't and don't want to dress drably forever and since I'm going to attract attention anyway because of my height, then I may as well make the spectators drool a bit. ;)
Today (Sunday) was "Town Archer" where you wear garb and the archery is scored. The usual crowd was there, and so was Jola (the new SCA girl). I have to admit, she looked incredible and I was very jealous of her body. I asked her where she got her clothes from (Tree of Life in Woden) because if I knew if I could look half that good I'd have heads turning. Of the people who had their scores marked I came last, so I guess I've got something to work on for next time (archery and fashion-sense).
Red gave me a call and invited me over for tea at 3:30 pm. I went home, ate breakfast and headed on down to Woden to indulge my minor clothes buying binge. I found a purple top like Jola's at Tree of Life (the do a lot of hippie/ gothic/ romantic period clothing) and a different top at Big W. I walked over to Susan and Jules place and got a lift with them to Red's where Bridget and Heather had just arrived. We had a nice afternoon chatting away and I got a lift home with Bridget at about 5 pm. I cooked up a storm, napped, called home and marked up a new dress out of the material which I bought on Wednesday.
Tomorrow is the Queen's Birthday public holiday (NB : It's not her actual birthday) so I guess I'll bum around and then go into work out of boredom. It's also Peta's (G) birthday, so I'll walk over and say G'day probably.
10:00 pm - I sewed a vest this morning after a trip to Lincraft, and it turned out Ok. I bought the most gorgeous little box of flowers and I thought of someone who I wanted to give them to, but instead I gave them to Peta for her birthday, but I'm not sure whether she really appreciated them all that much. I came home from her place and bought some food and diet coke on the way back and then started hand sewing my new purple dress. I got the first side done, chatted to Ally for a bit and then finished the second and cut the sleeves (or lack thereof) and neckline and it's mostly finished. Tomorrow it's back to the thesis and the usual distractions.
