Jolly Hockey-Sticks and Pippy Long-Stockings.

Today I woke up at 6:45 am which I wasn't too thrilled about, but at least I saw a lot of the day that way. At about 9:15 am I was over at Ruth's place; I had gone past the SCA meeting late on Wednesday night. It had been a horrible afternoon as I had been stuck with an academic, who is a really nice guy, you just hope you never have to work with him. I was intensely stressed out by the time I left. I hadn't been to an SCA meeting in over a month because Allison was over and I didn't have the time. Ruth said that she, Jola and Miska were going Op-shop trawling on Saturday morning because next Saturday was going to be a "School-girl's night" at the Gypsy Bar. That sounded too cool to turn down, so there I was at Ruth's place meeting her parents again.
During the search, we found suprisingly little in terms of actual school uniforms, but I did find the little tartan skirt I'd been looking for, and that with a white-shirt and a pair of over-the knee socks from Civic should do a presentable look. After we did coffee in Garema Place, I has sushi and came home. I phoned Allison who wasn't at all surprised that we'd been searching for school uniforms. ;) She'd had a tough week, but hopefully things will start settling down for her soon enough.

On the work front, Friday was fairly busy. In the morning I was running around because I had to get proof my Ph.D. candidature printed out on the ANU letterhead and then signed by a few of the people in charge, which wasn't hard to do except for finding the necessary academics. That was faxed away and then I went to Café Essen to have lunch with Peta which was nice as always. She's now "Policy coordinator" for the Canberra wing of the Democrats and is enjoying that. After I got back to the lab, I mostly worked on getting all the necessary tables and pictures into Chapter 5 and then getting them in order. Since I had Chapters 2 - 4 already, this wasn't too hard, and it's a good way of letting me know what data is missing. I was hoping to buy some heavily discounted and very cool leather jeans from Atelier, but although they make them small because they stretch so much, I couldn't get the size 16 pair over my thighs, so I guess I saved myself a regretful $165.
