Captain Kirk, Captain Picard, Captain Sisko, and now, Captain
Janeway. These four names
are the leaders of four branches of a dream. Each one wears the
Starfleet Insignia proudly.
Each one knows that they have a tradition to uphold, rules to command
by, and a crew to
care for. Not to mention, a captivated audience to entertain.
Welcome to the Sci-Fi universe of Gene Roddenberry. A genious in any
time, he drempt of things
that would reshape television and movies forever. He took intergalactic
travel and communication
and put it within our reach. Every week, we can tune in and watch Sisko
battle the
Founders, and Janeway match wits with the Kazon. The reruns depict
Picard's cunning decisions
as he eliminates the Borg, and Kirk's trigger-happy art of dealing with
the Klingons. We can go
to Blockbuster and rent any one of the 7 movies, or take home an episode
or two. Toy stores
carry models, figures, and toys based on this dream. And it's called
Star Trek
So what's your fancy? Do you prefer Kirk's way with women, Spock's
logical ramblings, and McCoy's
definition of his job? Picard's fascination with tea, Data's longing for
humanity, and Deanna's 6th
sense? Maybe it's Odo's (once) mysterious past, Quark's scheming plans,
and Jadzia's laid-back
demeanor? Or perhaps it's Chakotay's American Indian heritage, Neelix's
strange recipes, and the
HoloDoc's bedside manner? If your heart beat a little faster when you
read the names of the characters
in your favorite series, then you can safely say that you are a
Trekkie. Yes, one of those people
who lives for that hour of programming and those new action figures
from obscure little episides.
The trading cards from the latest movie, and the T-Shirts with a new
shot of the Enterprise. Face it.
You've been sucked in.

They call to you- as a collector, you know that you must have them
all. Where can you get them?
Where will you find all the Playmates figures and accessories? How will
you know when
the new Captain Kirk doll is coming out? Don't panic, all that
information can be found on
the
Playmates Star Trek Page. Now
the newest figures are at your finger tips. You can tell your friends
you've seen them before anyone
else. And if you can't afford to dish out the $800-$1000 for the new
"Picard from Tapestry" (limited
to production of 1,701), you can always download his picture.
The nail biting suspense, the hair raising anticipation- what will
happen in next weeks episode?
If you must know the Voyager and Deep Space Nine plots, you can get a
brief overview in advance (2 weeks!)
at Microsoft's Star Trek Page.
(Yep, Bill's a Trekkie!) You can become
a priviledged member of the "Continuum," which gives you priveledges
like E-mail to the cast members, live
chat with other Trek fans, live chat with Trek actors, and a bulletin
board service. This is the spot featured
on the 30th Anniversary special. (Note: In
order to take part in these special
priviledges, you must be a member of the Microsoft Network. However, if
you are not a member, you can still view
the plot synopsis two weeks in advance, and check out some neat
graphics. The live chat is only offered to MSN
members.)
And, of course, the people who hold it together- Paramount. Here,
you can access movie pages, home video pages, and episode pages. It
will also take you to the MSN page, if
don't watch where you click. Graphics are heavy on this site, but you
can still get along fine without them.
The borg are back!!! The 8th big screen installment to the Legacy
was a hit- Star Trek: First Contact
awed audiences everywhere. Released on November 22nd, 1996, millions of
people flocked to the theatres to see
Zephram Cochrane make First Contact with the Vulcans and Picard battle
it out with the all-so-intuitive Borg
Queen. To find out more than you ever wanted to know about the newest
Trek movie, visit
The First Contact
Website. It's a branch of the Paramount
page. Download a few awesome pictures, and find out about the
characters here. You can now rent it at your local Blockbuster or other
movie rental establishment.
Attention all ST: Customizable Card Game players!! Decipher, the
manufacturer of the Next Generation Card Game, has an extensive web page
devoted to tips, strategies, and
meeting other players in your area. It's a bit slow if you load in the
graphics, which are all rendered, and
quite large. Another good site to check out if you collect these cards
is
Rare Oasis
International. This is strictly a dealer
who sells only the Rare cards at great prices. They have all the sets,
including the original bridge crew in
White, Black, and Silver borders. Their prices are always 50% of Scrye.
OK, I have to admit that I was not raised in a normal family. I, myself,
am a Klingon,
and my darling mother is a Bajoran. My father and brother are humans,
so you can tell that
my sense of culture is going to be a little odd. Here is a picture of
my mother and me. (Click on
it for the full size version.)
I have enjoyed Star Trek for most of my life, preferring the Deep Space
Nine series. My favorite characters are Dr. Julian
Bashir (played by Alexander Siddig) and Jadzia Dax (played by Terry
Farrell). Morn is also a great character, even though
his job is to sit on a chair and drink ale. [He got thrown off of a
chair!!! Finally! Some action!]
Do you know of a site that belongs on this page? Perhaps your
own? Or just some totally wonderful site you happened upon
by chance? Tell Me the

will put it up here.
