"My Two Cents"

By Chuck M. Hall

It's nice to see a stand being taken! It's about bloody time!
Anyway, let us analyze the contents of the first OUTSIDE! magazine, shall we? I'm pretty proud of its outcome. It was publicized greatly in the administration's attempts to censor it. Ignorant wretches... they NEVER saw that they were only proving our point when they over exaggerated, forced Chris out of school, and scared Colin to death as they spoon fed him lies. They didn't realize they proved everything we said was true, and I thank them for that. Now everyone knows how power hungry the Nazis who run our school are.
Other positive points made? Of course, it stated that even though the administration is responsible for 90% of our problems, the cliques and lack of tolerance among the students accounts for the other 10%; free knowledge of restricted information was provided; it brought many different people together for the second issue; etc... But all it did was state points, and that was our biggest problem...
All we did was point out where other people went wrong. In doing so, we lowered ourselves to the level of Rush Limbaugh. Always pointing out the negative and never offering solutions. Well, that ends here. These are some of the things I propose to make our school run better.

1. Bring back Chris! As most know, he was the main man in the production of OUTSIDE!. Writing most of the articles under the pseudonym STRYFE, and assisting the many people who are the "Chuck" persona, he brought it together...
I say we make him student body president! He would actually change things... the way we are treated and the way people perceive us. He would not be content to just sit back and select pretty colors for boring dances. Unfortunately, "THEY" made sure that wasn't a possibility.

2. Fire Holmberg. That man (if he really does have anything downstairs) is far too concerned with his power trip to care the slightest account about the education, or well being of any student at MVHS.

3. Someone loan Tillinghast a brain, please. That guy has the BIGGEST heart I have ever seen, and he has great intentions. However, his lips are glued too tightly to the hind quarters of Mutchie for him to stand up to anyone, and here at MVHS, Plants and Holmberg make all the decisions for him. He is here as a nice front man for a nice school. The man has the power to change things, I only wish he would realize that.
Mr. Tillinghast? Buddy? Are you out there? Listen to me... The students see you as their friend. They like you and trust you- which is more than can be said for the majority of your staff. Take a stand and CHANGE THINGS! I know you see it. Walk through the halls, examine what goes on behind closed doors in the surrounding offices. Look at that, and then tell me there is nothing wrong. Tell me elections aren't rigged or altered, tell me students are happy, tell me ALL your teachers do their jobs, tell me students welcome the ideas of others. I know you have a hard job, and money for the teachers is hard to come by, and everything else you have to deal with is difficult... but we need you as well. Don't forget the students... isn't that what school is all about?

4. Pat all your teachers on the back who are doing an excellent job! We accidentally overlooked the fact that there are teachers out there who do a great job. Thank them for it...

5. Kick all your teachers in the pants who do a poor job! Sit down and nicely tell them that they are a crappy teachers. If that doesn't change their tactics, pursue other alternatives. Either do it the legit way and file paperwork, which won't change a blessed thing, or pat a dry ice bomb in their mailbox- whichever solution you believe would result in the outcome you desire.

6. Stand up to anyone who tells you to sit down. If there are others around you who can't stand, stand for them and/or help them up.

7. Stop hating each other! Walking through the halls, you can have things thrown at you or shouted at you because you look different than the person hurling the solid/verbal projectile in your area. That's not right... come on! Think about it! What is it you really hate about others? Don't judge someone because of their attire!
If you really need someone to hate, pull them aside and say, "Hey, why do you dress differently than I do?", "Why do you wear a cowboy hat instead of sagging your pants?", or "How come you wear black make-up instead of flesh tones?". I guarantee that when you sit down and talk with others, you will see that you are more alike than you thought. We are all people... if that doesn't command a certain amount of respect, at least use it as a starting point.

That's about all for now. It's not as thrilling as Stryfe's "Top Ten List", and I'm three short of the sum, but I think it's something that needs to be said.
Take care, all of you. 1
