According to the dictionary definition a TV is someone who likes and possibly gets pleasure from wearing clothes of the opposite sex. If we take this definition seriously then every woman in the world could be labelled as a TV because they occasionally wear trousers or jeans!
Obviously the dictionary definition needs redefining! Nowadays TV's are regarded as males who like to wear female apparel. There is no connection the other way round, I would put this down to the long fight by Emily Pankhurst and the Suffragette movement in trying to get votes for women.
In no way would I decry this movement as I agree totally with their objectives, but by wearing trousers and suits etc they paved the way for all real women to dress any way that suited them!
However the opposite still does not apply :-( I would love nothing better than to be able to walk down the street without having to spend an hour or two trying to "look realistic". I would ask any TV or TS reading this not to regard this write up as a reason to challenge the laws and more importantly the social acceptance of transgendered people in their country!
I know that due to the success of recent films in which film stars are shown in a female role the aceptance of "our sort of people" is much more widely accepted, but we should not regard this as "Carte Blanche" to go out dressed and shock our neighbours :-)
Surely our ulimate goal should be to go out and be ignored :-) Personally I love nothing better than being out with Melanie and being totally ignored by everyone. To me that proves that I am acceptable as Terri Anne.
Having said that I truly believe that we should all do our best to educate society in general into greater acceptance of us. To this end I have with Melanie appeared on several television and radio shows in the UK. I know that to many TV's the thought of "coming out" would cause GREAT problems, so I am not asking you to follow our example.
To any "red blooded male" reading this I would say that if you see a TV out having a good time with her friends, then please leave her alone, she doesn't want to be the centre of attention, and how would you feel if your friends made your sexual and personal feelings public! All anyone like myself wants is for people like you to ignore us and leave us alone, please consider this before you poke fun etc at us in the future.
If you are a TV and want help, guidance or just need someone to "chat" to then please drop me a line and you can be sure that I will always reply, although I would ask you to please be patient as it sometimes takes me three days to answer all my mail!
If you've got this far then thanks for your perseverance.
