Welcome
to the Catwalk.
This is my first attempt at a page like this so I hope you'll bear with
me. Things should get better as we go along.
I will be updating this page on a monthly basis, so if you have any news
or info for me then please send it to me by the 20th of each month so that
I can make sure it makes the next months update.

Spring is on the way and soon the shops
will be full of the new ranges. Here's my guide to the essential
looks of the season, straight from the catwalks of the world.
Colours.
Grey is still riding high as (dare
I say it?) the "new black" , but is moving into softer shades with blue
and lilac undertones, best worn as city chic in tailored suits "a la Calvin
Klein".
Black and white monochrome is also
highly featured on the catwalk this season, but the really big news is
pink. Yes, pink is back in every shade from bubble gum to raspberry
and is being used by everyone from Martine Sitbon to Christian Dior.
Contrasted with tangerine orange or combined with pastels and day-glo it
gives the ultimate head-to-toe Barbie look :-)
Silhouette
& Cut.
Strapless seems
to have replaced last years harsh asymmetry. Essential "boob-tubes"
move from daywear under jackets into evening wear with shoulders and backs
bared.
Fabrics.
The dominant
sheers and transparents of the last few seasons are still with us, but
are given a new twist with heavy embellishment, embroidery and beading
adorning chiffons and voiles.
As a contrast, modern techno fabrics
continue to reign supreme with emphasis placed on metallics and reflective
high sheen sufaces.
The
Look.
With Stella McCartney
installed at Chloe, a nostalgic femininity is emerging as a strong look
for the season. Think Edwardian night dresses and broderie anglaise,
combining key pieces of tailored suits and casual wear. Look out
for rising Australian star Collette Dinnigan, already noted for her delicate
styling of feminine underwear as wearable pieces.
Mixed ethnicity draws influences from
global cultures. From American Indian weaves at John Galliano to
sarongs over trousers at Dries Van Noten, the essential elements were mixed
and matched to create an eclectic array of exotic fabrics and street smart
medleys.
Well there we go with the first
issue. Please let me know your opinions and any suggestions you might
have.
