Internet Relay Chat

IRC, for the memebers of our channel #GayMexico has became a commond word. Through our computers we can chat with persons behind the screen; no matter how they look like, where they are, or their age. Due to that, we can get something beautiful, comunication.

#GayMexico is in the net called Undernet; to get in that net, you need an IRC client.

To get the IRC client, you can use the undernet's ftp server: ftp.undernet.org, but as they exist various systems types, there are different types of clients, so you must choose the correct client for your system. If you don't know what kind of system you have, ask your internet provider and then get the right client.

Ok! if you're ready with your client and started it, here we have some of the basic commands in order to begin your adventure with IRC:
All commands must have a "/" before them for the client to recognize them as commands.

/server [server name] {port}

This command is used to connect to a server, the port number is and option, you can use the port number 6667.
Example:
/server us.undernet.org 6666

/join #[channel name]

This comand is used to join the channel you want to chat in.
Example:
/join #gaymexico
Note that all channels must begin with # simbol

/part #[channel name]

The part command is used to leave the channel you were chating in

/quit {menssage}

quit is used to close your comunication to the server you were conected to, in other words with this command you end you IRC session
Example:
/quit Hasta la vista!

Very good, now with this information you can chat with us , so don't be long, that your doubts can be explained by anyone in the channel #GayMexico

By the way... now that you know this, I don't what to mention it but there is an easier way to connect to IRC, and it's making a telnet to telnet.wildstar.net, but sometimes is difficult to connect that way, due to the demand of that service.
