One of my Favorite Songs
I love music! My taste is probably best called traditional and eclectic, as I like classical, jazz, and pop -- especially the lyrical pop music of the 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s, especially the ballads from Broadway musicals, like those of Rogers and Hammerstein.
I've long been a fan of Richard Rogers' melodic talents -- at one time I had the whole Victory at Sea soundtrack. His partnership with Oscar Hammerstein II was one of the most fruitful and enduring in the history of theatre.
One of their last collaborations was Flower Drum Song, which contains one of my
favorite pieces -- can you believe this awesome song?
I Enjoy Being A Girl
1
I'm a girl, and by me that's only great!
I am proud that my silhouette is curvy
That I walk with a sweet and girlish gait
With my hips kind of swivelly and swervy.
|
4
When men say I'm cute and funny
And my teeth aren't teeth but pearl,
I just lap it up like honey
I enjoy being a girl!
|
2
I flip when a fellow sends me flowers,
I drool over dresses made of lace,
I talk on the telephone for hours
With a pound and a half of cream upon my face!
|
5
I adore being dressed in something frilly
When my date comes to get me at my place.
Out I go with my Joe or John or Billy,
Like a filly who is ready for the race!
|
3
When I have a brand new hair do
With my eyelashes all in a curl,
I float as the clouds on air do,
I enjoy being a girl!
|
6
I'm strictly a female female,
And my future I hope will be
In the home of a brave and free male
Who'll enjoy being a guy...having a girl...like me!
