So you want to know a little bit about me, huh?? Well, that's me at the above left and, as you have [hieroglyphically] guessed, my name is David (an interesting, and "somewhat" insightful, name analysis link). I'm glad you stopped by for a visit and I hope upon your departure you will feel welcome to stop by again anytime!! Oh...some have asked me in emails, so I figured I'd throw this in: I am a card-carrying member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.... :)
I currently reside in Louisville, Kentucky, home of Churchill Downs and The Kentucky Derby. Believe me, there are few community-wide parties in the world that can compare to the two-week long, Derby Festival. Hey, these aren't Louisville's only claims to fame, though!! The Louisville Slugger is manufactured here, it now even has its own museum, and very soon its own baseball stadium, "Slugger Field"! And we can't forget about the world famous, "Finger-lickin' Good!" Kentucky Fried Chicken. Ever heard of Papa Johns Pizza? Rally's Hamburgers?? Vencor? Humana?? Well...they, too, are all Louisville-based, home-grown companies.
I haven't always lived in the Derby City, though. I grew up in Henderson, a small city nestled on the Southern bank of the Ohio River in Western Kentucky. One of Henderson's few famous people, John James Audubon, has his own state park there to forever preserve his name and lifelong work in history. It was recently brought to my attention that W.C. Handy, "Father of the Blues" lived in my hometown at the turn of the century. Although it certainly would be nice, we all can't have a U.S. President or a Nobel Prize winner from our home town!
I departed Henderson after graduating from Henderson County Senior High School to attend college, and I haven't looked back. My alma mater is Murray State University, in Murray, Kentucky (which, by the way, was actually named several years back the Retirement Capital of the U.S....it didn't keep that designation for long, though!). Murray State is a small, regional state university with an enrollment of about 7,500, which now has the distinction, I believe, of being the 4th "best value" among colleges and universities in the Southeastern United States. While I was there, I spent a lot of my time having fun, and I did manage to study computer information systems and political science. My extracurricular activities centered mainly on Lambda Chi Alpha (social fraternity) and the Student Alumni Association. After college, I moved to Louisville to start living.
What is living?? To me, living is the exploration, and full enjoyment, of life. What is life? Life is living! And I find myself doing just that each and every day! I like to travel regionally as much as I can, to cities such as Nashville, TN, Indianapolis, IN, or Cincinnati, OH. I exercise and work out regularly, and maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle. I love the outdoors (as long as Seldane D has my allergies under wraps), and enjoy rollerblading and biking. Pastimes include reading, writing, keeping up with current events, and watching "Steel Magnolias" over and over again. I'm a fan of Star Trek (original and present version[s]), E.R., Friends, AbFab, Seinfeld, Frasier, Melrose Place (you didn't hear me say that!), and 3rd Rock. When I go out to the clubs, I can most often be found on the dance floor (sometimes shirtless) enjoying the social atmosphere, the music, and the sights (I'm referring to MEN here!!).
So, here I am!! Since moving to Louisville, I have basically always worked in the financial services industry. I've held a variety of responsibilities for PNCBank, PNC Mortgage, and Citizens Bank/Mortgage. I am currently with another bank, where I work in the wholesale mortgage lending division whose headquarters is in Atlanta.
And, in case you are wondering, I am single. I guess that the "right" guy just hasn't come along yet. Until he does, I have a wonderful network of friends who are a blast to hang out with and provide more than enough social interaction so that I never find myself lonely! What more, for now, do I need?
That's brief-ly about me! Why don't you drop me a note and tell me about yourself, and what you think about my home on the web?? I love getting email, and I try my best to answer all that write!
