Diary Entry for April 13, 1997

Dear Diary,

Saturday was a busy day, preparing for my first night out. I had my nails done on Saturday about 1:00 by a girl who has been giving me a manicure upon different occasions for quite a while. After that, I went home, and spent the rest of the day picking out the clothes I wanted to wear that night. I was undecided what to wear. Should I go dressed in a nice dress-up dress (a black sheath type with a jacket), or kind of casual (a blue/black, and white top full length button up all the way up the front to the bottom). I layed out each one, and looked at them, and decided on the casual one. I waited around for a while, until about 5:30 then started to get ready. Of course, like any other woman I changed my mind again and decided on the black sheath.

I started putting on my makeup around 5:45. This little job took longer than I thought it would, because I couldn't get it on just the way I wanted it to be. After several botched tries, I finally got it the way I wanted, or close. I loaded all of the bread, and meat trays I bought for the cookout, and got ready to leave.

I got in the car and pulled out of the driveway. This was a kind of nervous time. I had never actually left the house before, so I was a little nervous about neighbors seeing me. But, everything went ok, and I got out of the neighborhood, without any hitches. Next, driving thru town was another nervous stretch of road, because I know a lot of people in town, and I could have passed any one of them during the time it took me to get out of town. Fortunatley, that did not happen. I had two things going for me though, one, I usually do not drive the car, so no one would be looking for me in it, two, if someone did see me in the car, I hoped they would not recognise me as a woman in the car (There are a lot of cars like ours around).

I got out of town ok, and onto the interstate. I made my way on down to the meeting site. Interstate driving was not to bad, because the likelyhood of meeting someone there was very low.

I got to the parking lot of the meeting place, and found a place to park. I got out of the car, and started walking up to the building. There was people standing outside and I was still a little nervous about meeting and talking with them. But, I forced myself to go on up and ask where I could find the person I was supposed to meet. I finally met her, and introduced myself. We had talked via E-mail, and that was all, and I had seen a picture of her on her website. I asked where to put the trays, and I got them out of the car. We went inside, and I was introduced to others.

After doing some minor paperwork, I went into the meeting room, and sat down. I watched and listened to what was going on and being said. I tend to be the listener when I am in strange places, or in strange situations. Fortunately, I had someone come up and introduce theirself. My friend Danielle was the first to reach out to me, and start talking to me. We talked and discussed different things. It helped to put me at ease a lot. Since, we have kept in touch with a few E-mail messages, and I have added a link to Danielle's web page on my links page. Please Visite her site. I Know you will enjoy the visit.

By the time the evening was getting close to being to an end, I was feeling a lot more at ease, than when I first arrived. I enjoyed meeting and talking with others who had the same feelings as I, and wanted to get some social interaction to go along with their secondary lives. Actually, the evening could have went on a little longer for me, because I was invited to go along to a favorite hang out, but, still being the first time out, I didn't want to push my luck, and Still being a little nervous about being out in public, I refused, and got ready to go back home.

Overall I enjoyed myself a lot, although I was nervous, and I am looking foward to the next meeting, so that I can get back out of the house again.
