GENERAL
Studies indicate that at least 10% of the world’s population is homosexual (Gay). Gay men and Lesbian women come from families, from all corners of the earth and from every culture, ethnic group and economic level. Some Gays and Lesbians fit special stereotypes, but most look and act like individuals from the heterosexual majority. Physical appearance and mannerisms have nothing to do with a person’s sexuality. There are "masculine" women and "effeminate" men who are not Gay.
GAY PEOPLE ARE NATURALLY THAT WAY
Homosexuality is not chosen : like selecting clothes or a line of work. No one knows how human sexual orientation is determined. It is clear that : 1] Whilst young children, Gays are often aware of their sexual orientation. 2] People who are Gay were not influenced or taught to be Gay by any other people. 3] Family fears of "catching" homosexuality or being recruited are utterly without scientific foundation and, in families where Gay children try to become heterosexual, all attempts fail.
GAY PEOPLE ARE HEALTHY PEOPLE
Homosexuality, like heterosexuality, in and of itself is not a mental or emotional disorder. Gay people lead lives as varied as heterosexuals. They establish stable, longlasting relationships, work in all occupations, watch TV, shop, play sports, vote and pay taxes.
ARE GAY PEOPLE MORE LIKELY TO MOLEST CHILDREN ?
NO! About 90 of sex offences against children are committed by male adults against female children mostly in family situations. Men who offend against boys have nearly always offended against girls in the past. Most homosexuals have no more sexual interest than do heterosexuals. So a child does not need special protection from a Gay person. Children need protection from sexual assault.
CAN PEOPLE BE CONFUSED ABOUT THEIR SEXUAL ORIENTATION ?
Homosexual people are usually confused about their homosexual feelings because they live in a heterosexual world. Everything is geared to a heterosexual family lifestyle. By not feeling to want any part of this must be confusing. However, they are not confused about how they feel about people of the same sex. Their same sex attraction is as strong as the sexual attraction between heterosexuals and with the same degree of variation of feelings. At the one end of the scale there are casual sexual encounters and at the other end there are committed long-lasting relationships which are formed.
