In Memoriam - Roy Alan Cerise
1962 - 1996

Roy Alan Cerise died on February 18, 1996 following a long battle with leukemia. Originally from Leadville, Colorado. Roy received his bachelor's degree from Carroll College in Waukesha, Wisconsin in 1985, and followed his education with a career as a financial administrator in higher education. At Allegheny, he served as the Director of Auxiliary Services.

Besides his official duties, Roy was instrumental in the expansion of the Committee in Support of Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual People at Allegheny. He helped organize Allegeny's participation at the 1993 March on Washington, planned several National Coming Out Days and donated food services for the first Alumni Caucus brunch held at German House during a visit by the Rev. Nancy Wilson in the spring of 1993. His loss has been felt by the many people he enriched in Meadville.

Roy is survived by his lifetime partner, Phillip Gin of California; family and friends. Burial took place in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetary in the family's hometown of Audobon, Iowa. Memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia Society of America in Roy Cerise's name in leiu of contributions to the family.
