Most people regard fishing as a bit of a pastime, something to fill in the time or a chance to get away from it all, for the more serious angler and purist, it is a chance to challenge your wits to the point of total obsession, especially for those of us who are into Fly-Fishing, The Ultimate Challenge indeed.

For me, Fly-Fishing allows me to get into my own little domain, where I can be at ease with just about everything and suffice to say everyone, just being in a wilderness situation is usually enough to satisfy my lust, a brace of trout tricked into accepting my offerings is definitely a major bonus.

The sport itself is a wonderful relaxation in the Great Australian Outdoors, I like the aloneness and being at one with nature, it is true to say that the majority of freshwater and in particular, Trout Fisherman have a facility for camaraderie, a desire to conserve the environment, a knowledge and appreciation of nature itself and a keenness to ensure that the resource is maintained for all to enjoy.
In my early fishing days, I used to keep all the fish I managed to trick and catch, some by hook and some by crook, nowadays I tend to release those that are more than I can eat, although I am sure anyone will agree, even the purists, that the ultimate prize of a "Moby" Trout spied, lured and caught on light tackle is perhaps a once in a lifetime offering, so we can be forgiven for keeping and preserving our Trophy Moby Trout.

I have been lucky over the years to introduce a few guys and albeit some women to fly-fishing, in the main because I like the company as such, I do prefer the company of guys for obvious reasons, sharing thoughts, experiences, expectations, and constructive criticism makes for a great scene in the wilderness settings.
