PHOENIX
Some things good come to those who wait. With my new job, I had to take a training class to learn about the control system being used. Fortunately, the class was held in Phoenix in late September. The following pictures are of things in the Phoenix area that I found interesting. They fall into two categories, mountains and buildings.
These pictures are of mountains within the Phoenix city limits, something I'm not used to. The first is Hole in Rock from Papago State Park. The second is Camelback and the third is Squaw Peak.
These were interesting buildings I found while out in Phoenix. The first two are homes in the Biltmore area. The one looks like it belongs in Phoenix, while the second looks like it belongs on the East Coast..
The remainder are public buildings. The first is the Arizona State Capitol, hidden by trees.
The home of the Arizona Diamondbacks, Banc One Ballpark.
This is a bank on Camelback Road which was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
The Phoenix city library, which looks like a really interesting and light filled building.
On my last day in Phoenix, I had some extra time to kill. I noticed my map showed that General Motors had a proving ground marked on it, so I decided to take a drive past. That was about all you could do since the actual proving ground was fenced in. On the way back to the city, I saw this dust tornado which I thought was neat since I'd never seen one before.
