Real World News
That old-time Religion
A Bahamian minister said Thursday that it was God that kept a cruise ship with 900 gay men from making its scheduled stop at a private island in the Bahamas. The Norwegian Cruise Line vessel Leeward cancelled a visit Thursday, Feb. 3rd 98, because of inclement weather, the cruise line said. Ministers, concerned that the gay tourists would have a negative influence on Bahamian children, had protested Thursday against the visit. "Prayer changes everything," said Bishop Harcourt Pinder, president of the Bahamas Christian Council, contending that the bad weather was divine intervention. The Leeward was earlier denied access to Grand Cayman harbours because of its gay passengers.

Grand Opening:
PV Adventure Land

By Bille

A huge funfair, PV Adventure Land (PVAL), is opening Saturday March 14th at 22:00 vrt, and everyone is invited!

PVAL, which is initiated and built by Phantom NJ, includes various activities, carousels, waterslides, adventures and cafes - all very well organised. You simply don't want to miss it! And don't mind those ticket booths at the main entrance - 'cause the entrance is free:)

Phantom NJ has been planning the amusement park for about a year, but amazingly, he put it all together in 5 days! No wonder he was on-line for 15-16 hours a day:)

Even though the area is already huge, Phantom NJ is thinking of further expansions:
"PVAL is a long way from being a finished product, but if I don't open it soon, it will never open. I'm planning to expand the park to 3 times it's current size, with the Observation tower being in the centre of the park."

And the proud builder do love funfairs:
"YES! In the real world and in Active Worlds as well. I don't think I have any favourite attraction in PVAL though, but my favourite areas are Kiddie Land and The Outback. Kiddie Land seems to be the right size and I like the way The Outback flows while you are walking through it."

There will be no specific program at the grand opening, you'll probably need the time to walk around exploring the many nice attractions. "I hope that PVAL will generate some more interest in Pink Village, it's citizens and friends", Phantom NJ concludes.

Meeting: New Gay World
By Bille

The PV gathering March 21st at 22:00 vrt is dedicated to a meeting for a new world oriented around a gay friendly environment, that is planned by Facter. Facter is now searching anyone that might be interested in getting together to help him plan this out. He's thinking of the new world as a place where gay friends can go to find links/support/events/news etc within the gay community.

Though Pink Village is not involved in the project, the PV Council has initiated this meeting for the purpose, and together with Facter we now invite everyone who is interested. If you want to join him creating the world or help in any way you can, make sure you don't miss this meeting at the Rainbow Garden! You probably don't even need to be gay yourself as long as you like the idea and want to know more about this project.

Stage Play Project
By Bille

Malibu Brad, PV citizen, wants to create a stage play that can be performed in a theatre in Pink Village this year. Malibu Brad who already runs a theatre in PV Outland, now calls for anyone that want to join a group for this project. Neither the story, characters or stage are decided yet, but to create a play should be real fun! As far as we know this has never been done in AW before - will the historical event take place in PV?

Having fun at Malibu's Theatre

You are now given the possibility to join in the group from the start. As there are several tasks to be taken care of, you don't need to be an actor/actress to join in. Someone need to write the play, eventually create original music, and not to forget the scene and effects.

The play will hopefully be performed in 1998, and until the first meeting on this new project you can mail Malibu Brad to get on the mailing list.

Our Mayor
By Phantom NJ

The other day as I was looking through the
PV citizens and friends web page, I realised that I have only met slightly less than half of our members. I've been to the parties but with all of the different time zones we live in, it is usually rather difficult for us to meet at a time convenient for all of us. I came to the conclusion that it would be nice if there was something available where we could find out a little bit more about the people who are living here in PV. So I decided to start by interviewing Bille and then systematically going down the list of citizens and friends in a regular column in Pink Point. I hope you enjoy it.

Our Mayor, Bille, was born in Haugesund, Norway and is currently living Oslo. He says he's 34 but he is feeling like he is 22. His first computer was a Commodore 64 and he learned to program in basic, making games and storing them on cassette tapes. The first chat system he used was IRC, he said " I didn't know anything else existed besides IRC, I thought the most popular channel was UFO, but I was wrong."

A friend of his named Doffen told him about AW, but at the time Bille was using a 386 and couldn't join. After investing in a new Pentium he joined AW right away and began building things. "I began building in a French world because I was thrilled at the thought of making Real Life (RL) friends that I could visit whenever I go to France, however, they all turned out to be from Canada so I decided to do something different." I asked him why he decided to start PV and he said "Because I could not help myself, after a week I had to do something more than build houses. I thought it would be fun to start a new village for the gay community, I didn't know about HomoCity until PV was founded, perhaps if I would have known I would have joined HomoCity instead." He said it took about 3 weeks or more to cover all the property for PV, shortly afterwards a guy put up around 300 hate signs, which fortunately were removed by Shamus Young (COF). "The town hall and the rainbow garden were the first things built in PV, the cross object at Queer Square was the first object built." His favourite things he has built are the Town Hall and the Cool Cafe.

Currently Bille is working on a new project for PV called "Oldster Field" which is located in the PV Outland, he also said that his future projects include The Church of Free Spirit and a News Agency.

When asked what he would like to see most in PV, he replied, "People hanging out on every corner chatting and having fun." He also loves surprises like citizens building new things in PV. "The best part of PV" he says "I think is that we are several individuals that like to contribute to improve the community." I asked him about expansion and he said that since there are so many free lots in the Outland, there is really no need to expand at this time.

PV Historical Museum
By Bille

The announced Pink Village History Book turned out to be a Historical Museum - After all; AW is about being in a 3D world, not only to surf a lot of web pages:) The new Historical Museum opens April 4th at 22:00 VRT. Come by to see pictures from PV's first year - even a picture (hmmm... a rather lousy one) taken the day PV was founded:). Or do you know what the Town Hall looked like a year ago? Or did you ever get a chance to see those offending signs vandalising our village?

The Historical Museum, or originally the History Book, was intended to be ready for our 1st anniversary January 31st, but the pictures were not ready by then. Even though there finally are enough pictures for completing the museum, we want everybody to search their HD for old PV pics from gatherings or a location. Pictures can be replaced, or there might be a supplementary building if the amount becomes a problem to our beloved Building Inspector.

Any comments or contributions to Pink Point,
especially gay/lesbian- and Pink Village related stuff,
are highly appreciated!
