Pink Village is a cyber
community for gay & lesbian avatars and their friends, covering an
area of 722.000 square meters in AlphaWorld. To visit us you'll need the
free AW-browser.
PV is run by the PV Council,
assisted by the citizens. You are welcome to contribute in any way you
like, simply contact the PV Council.
Pink Village also includes
the suburbs of Lesbianville, Bear Estate and Lionheart, all based on the
g/l/b/t theme, and initiated and run by PV citizens.
Every 9th week the Council
arranges the PV Citizens' Meeting where we all discuss our community, and
your suggestions and comments are greatly appreciated:)
In Pink Village you will
find private homes, night clubs & cafés, galleries, gardens,
theme facilities, and much more. Check out the PV
Yellow Pages.

Whether you decide to settle
and build a house here, or just wanna drop by occasionally, this is a place
to make friends from all over the real world. We host regular events -
we even host an annual 2 days Pride festival!
PV covers a huge area [map],
and most of the citizens don't visit daily. Besides - those who are most
active might be working on projects elsewhere in the AW universe. If you
never meet anyone in PV, you should either mail or telegram some of the
other PV residents, or make sure to visit at the time of any announced
event. Would you like someone to meet you in Pink Village, to show you
some of the locations, to help you to use the AW browser, or to answer
some PV related questions? Contact one of the Pink
Angels - a group initiated to assist you!:)

Pink Village was founded
January 30th 1997 by Bille. The very first object was placed at Queer Square
(AW
2222s 2222e), which is the absolute centre of PV. The village (which
in fact has grown into being a town) contains the Pink Island (central
part) and the surrounding PV Outland [Map].
Outside the PV Border Roads you will find the suburbs.
The first building of Pink
Village was the Town Hall, including the Info Centre. The first citizen
joined on February 2nd, the next came 5 days later. Since the start we've
been joined by about 30 individuals a year.
May 2nd 1998 Pink Village
was honoured with the CY Award in the category of Community Leadership/Participation.
PV has also been promoted in RL magazines/papers in Australia and Chicago:)
|
October 1998 we made history
by initiating and hosting the very first GLBT Pride Festival in a 3D virtual
environment ever. This has become an annual tradition:)

Pink Village is administrated
by the PV Council which consists of Mayor Bille and two councillors elected
by the citizens. The Mayor is superior, and as he has got a double vote
the two members will not be able to pass any revolutionary ideas without
the Mayors accept. On the other hand, the two members can protest if the
Mayor gets too carried away...:)
The
3 PVC members' offices can be visited at the Town Hall, AW 2222s 2222e
222. To become a councillor or to assist on administrative matters, please
contact the PV Council at pv-council@egroups.com
The election takes place
every year on January 30th, Pink Village's Foundation Day. Only PV citizens
(not PV friends) can be elected for the PV Council. Our first Council ever
was elected May 1997.

News
Since Pink Village was founded
back in January 1997, news and gossip have been published in our newsletter
Pink

elsewhere in AlphaWorld.
At the Info Centre (Town

2222e 222) there is a bulletin board where brief notes will
be announced.
3 public billboards
is updated regularly, advertising events and news, welcoming new
PV residents, and advertising PV locations. Normally all these 3 boards
can be seen at Queer Square, in front of the Town Hall.
Event reminders and brief
news is also sent via the PV mailing list, 1-4 times each month.
The mailing list is meant for invitations and news only, and not for discussion
or spam.
