The Dolphin Research Center ("DRC") is located on U.S. 1 at Mile Marker 59 on Grassy Key and is a rehabilitation center for dolphins that were mistreated, injured or ill.
On March 5th, 1998, we took part in the Dolphin Encounter program at the DRC. The program consists of a tour of the DRC facilities, a class to prepare you for the Dolphin Encounter, the Dolphin Encounter (swimming with dolphins), and a follow-up discussion. This was an unforgettable experience. If you ever get the chance, by all means, do it.
