I
went through to the Goodwood Prison for their AIDS Day event. There was
some confusion as to whether it was open to the public, I had some
friends from Church who would have loved to go. Up to last night it was
still doubtful, so I had to tell my friends they would have to take
their chances. However it turned out it would have been alright for
them to have attended! That's just the way prison beaurocracy works.
Also Glen was supposed to have given a speech as a prisoner living with
AIDS. He's been stressed out about it for the past two weeks and
spending time to write the speech and getting it right and practicing
it. And he was told at the last moment that he couldn't take part! But I enjoyed the event. The choir sang, but only towards the end of the programme and they were quite tired by then so they had lost some of their "umph". It was their choir master, Mr. Springveldt's birthday! There were some other items as well, and speeches, the key-note speech by Dr. Wilson from the Infectious Diseases Clinic at Tygerburg Hospital. Glen goes to her clinic and he speaks very highly of her. She actually comes from Cuba! THe event finished with a lunch of braaied (barbecued) meat and salad. Well, it's drizzling at the moment. It's most welcome as it's very dry and were are under water restrictions because our winter rainfall was so low. I first heard it on my caravan roof, and then in popped a wet cat. Murdoch came to complain to me about the rain! |
