Barcelona, Spain
During early summer of 1994 I had the pleasure of visiting the historic and gorgeous Barcelona. The place screams history. Streets are narrow and you can get your hands dirty here quite easily. If you are a Ritz Carlton kinda boy this ain't your place. I spent about 4 days exploring. If you don't speak Spanish, you takes yer chances here! Please learn the words, "Excuse me I am lost!" and "Whadda ya mean a Coke cost 6 bucks!?" Local fare is relatively cheap. You can buy a bottle of wine for about $2 Canadian! I also visited the gay beach at Sitges, a half hour train ride southwest of Barcelona. Actually, it was more like a day for me since I took the wrong train the first time! As for the fauna, it was very intriquing. I am sure that was the customs agent from Australia... Hmmm, he looks different out of uniform; veeerrry different! "You want me to do WHAT? And put it WHERE? I think not."
A Public Square
This is the view from the Hostel window where I stayed my first night there. Beautiful view! Unfortunately, the hostel was not. Cramped and unsanitary! Though I was backpacking, when sleeping, I like my comforts. The partying went on in this square until the early morning…
