Singapore

Okay, believe it or not I am Chinese but this was the first time I had been to Asia! I spent 7 days here with my good friends and locals, Angela and Seeto. They showed me some of the unique culture and diversity of this incredible country. I was not use to looking around and seeing I was a part of the ethnic majority. "Boy, Toronto's Chinatown sure got big all of a sudden!" The temperature is always hot at around 28 degrees C . You get used to it… tip: have a radar scanner built into your skin to help seek out the Air-conditioned spots! You'll need it! Laws here are strict but alas, I did not witness one offense worth a caning. The food here is heavenly and can be affordable if you're not too concerned with decor. Fun touristy places to visit are Boat Quay (entertainment district), Jarong Bird Sanctuary, Sentosa Island (theme park), and Fort Siloso (historical). Through a Toronto based Singaporean friend, I was able to connect with others to experience the gay underground. Do not go blindly searching. You will not find it! You need to know the right people!

The Sultan Mosque

This exquisite mosque is in Kampong Glam at the heart of Singapore's Muslim community. I refuse to make any jokes in this section (though GLAM is very tempting) because, well, they don't take too kindly to that sort of thing, with regards to their temples and such. I was not allowed to enter because I was showing a bit too much leg in my fashionable shorts.
