It helps to be fairly fleshy around the chest to begin with. Being of that body build myself it's rather easy to manipulate the mass. Being of relatively advanced years the elasticity of my skin presents some problems.
There are two types of medical tape you can use. The first is your standard adhesive tape. It's made of a fairly coarse white cloth with an adhesive back. For some people this may be fine. But yours truly found that my skin usually turned red and dry after using this kind of tape. Much of the redness was very likely the result of the tension the tape maintains on the skin. But it could be an allergic reaction.
The second type of tape is also made of cloth. It's a little thinner than the first and is woven of a finer fiber. Johnson and Johnson has this variety labeled First Aid Cloth Tape. Look for some smaller type on the label saying "Hospital Name: Dermicel". The adhesive on this tape is hypoallergenic so is less likely to adversely affect the skin. The only problem I've found with this type of tape is that it leaves a stickier residue on the skin after I've taken it off. To help remove the residue I dust some talcum powder on it to give me a firmer, less adhesive mass to pull off. A second dusting might be necessary.
The tape comes in several widths. One inch is wide enough for our purposes. A two inch wide tended to pull the skin the wrong way.
To get a preliminary idea of what you can produce cross your arms in front of your chest and place the two middle fingers under the arm pit or slightly in front of them and at a level about an inch under a line that crosses both nipples. Pull towards the center and lift up. The taping won't provide the lift but this will give you an idea of the final result. Determine how much tension you need to provide to get the results and when you do the taping try to duplicate it.
This next part is optional. You may want to do it laying on your back. Take the short cylidrical object mentioned in the materials section and place it down the center of your chest so that the tape will pass over it. While holding the tape away from your body with the left hand, reach across the chest with the right hand and pull the flesh towards the center. Bring the tape down and across the chest, passing over the cylinder and pulling the right side toward the center with the tape. Stretch the tape across the left side of the chest and afix it. Remove the cylinder. It's primary purpose is to provide some spacing and to keep the skin from wrinkling under the tape. It won't be 100% effective but it will help.
If you don't opt to use the spacing cylinder just perform the above procedure without it.
In the text above I suggest placing the tape about 1" below the nipples. This is variable. If you want deep cleavage (crowding) you should place the tape directly under the nipples. The further down you place it the less pronounced the effect will be above.
If you're bound and determined to crowd the cleavage try the following if you want to get a tight bind. Place the tape where necessary on the right side. Lie down on a sofa or bed and roll over on your right side. Use the surface to push your arm against the right breast and the weight of body to maintain the pressure. Hold the tape out using the right hand while using the left hand to push the left breast toward the center. Press the tape in place on the left after stretching it as far as it will go. Walla, encore! Now you're ready to put on your favorite bra. I prefer a body shaper with a strapless top. But, to each his own. Place your pads in and you're ready to finish with the rest of your fashion.
