Sailing at the Marina Aquatic Center (starting in February 1994)

I walked into my beginning sailing class at the Marina Aquatic Center in February, 1994. I was hooked. I was a teaching assistant (TA) for a number of years, and then became a full-fledged instructor in 1998.

A beautiful shot taken from the dock at sunset. (Unknown photographer)

A Holder 14 being launched from the dock reasonably well.

Holder sailing with the MAC in the back (below the palm trees).

These students are demonstrating very good body placement when righting a "turtled" boat. Every single class I have ever taught has had at least one turtled boat. The turtle position is now sometimes fondly referred to as the "Peter" position.

Another turtle! Help is allowed to get both people on the hull of the turtled boat.

Turtling is FUN!

Vanguard 15s (the boats used for Intermediate and Advanced) on the open ocean.

Lisa Dannenbaum (great TA) and me.
