Victoria Falls

The Falls were awe inspiring and so I took a ton of pictures. The first one here is from a helicopter ride I took.

Falls - Aerial

This is the same area of the Falls but this time from the ground.

Here the water level is low, I can hardly imagine it when it's high!

Driving thru the Bvumba mtns... hill after hill of banana trees.

Men working in the banana fields explained to me that banana bunches that are choosen for harvest are wrapped in a blue plastic bag that lets them continue to grow but slows the ripening. One bunch per tree is choosen and someone comes thru the fields chopping them down. This man collects the bunches from the different fields and takes them to a central site on the plantation for shipment out.

off to market

These are huge, absolutely huge trees. They can keep living and growing even if their core starts to die. They can be hollow on the inside then and still living... making a great place for animals to hide. The distictive thing about these trees is they look like they are upside down with the roots in the air. Legend has it that some upset deity stabbed the tree into the ground, in this upside down fashion. I'm looking for a written version of the actual legend. Oh yeah, the fruit from this tree is called Monkey Bread.

One of the ways that the locals make money is doing stone and wood carvings. There were stands like this along the roadside everywhere we went. Here's one of my tour buddies doing a bit of shopping.

Curios

Coke! No Pepsi! Coke! Throughout my trip the only (soda)pop that you could buy was Coke, Fanta Orange or Sprite. In fact I don't recall even being able to buy Diet Coke, much less caffeine free diet coke. To say that Coca-Cola was firmly established was an understatement. As you entered and left towns of any size there were signs like the one below.... Coke, no Pepsi

My kind of town

The last picture I wanted to share with you is from the rocky Motopos Hills. This is a natural rock formation that I saw one evening at the end of a game drive.

Thank you for letting me share my pictures and stories with you.
