BAND
Tantric Jam Session Tantric is holdnig a Rehearsal/Jam Session on Thursday, January 11 at the manager's office, 29 Lady Musgrave Road, starting around 7pm. All musicians are invited to come and take part. For those of us (like most of us) who are a little rusty from not playing over the holiday season, it's a means of getting back into the groove, so come on out and join us. See U there. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL Jan-2-2001 Wishes all our friends, family and loved ones all the very best for 2001. May all your (and our) dreams come true this year. We start the new year with a bit of a dilemna and we're looking to our fans for a solution. It seems there is already a band signed to a record label with the name 'Tantric'. Ordinarily, we wouldn't worry about it if we were only planning to do shows here in Jamaica. However, since we are planning to put out an album and hopefully get signed and tour the world, we need to find a new name for the band. Therefore, we're looking for suggestions from you. It will be kind of like a contest and there will be a prize (to be determined) to the person whose name we choose. Rules? Simply email us with your name and a contact number and the proposed name change for the band. We'll advise you of the winner of the prize (to be determined). Entries close whenever we say, or when we get a name we like. There is no purchase necessary so we should have no beef with the gaming and lotteries commission :-) TANTRIC performed at CME Dec-5-2000 performed at the Caribbean Music Expo on Wednesday December 1, 2000 at the little Pub in Ocho Rios. We were the 3rd of 4 bands from the Caribbean, the others from Barbados, Trinidad and Panama. We performed just our four original songs, Friends, Stronger, Trust in Me and Big Screen and the performance went well. Thanks to Doña, Bonnie, Martin, Robert and Jason's father Val for making the trip to Ochi to support us. Our appreciation cannot be expressed enough. The exposure was good, although we're a bit skeptical about the presence of foreign music heads on the night. Not to worry though, because Rupert, his wife Michelle, his sister Jana and our trusty manager Gibbo ran the Gypsy Music/Tent City booth at the Expo and our music was blasting throughout the entire hall, including the music of Jana and "Chilla", Rupert's other projects. We had the most exiting and best sounding booth in the place and we attracted quite a few music executives. We called it 'THE MEGABOOTH". We were able to get a video tape of our performance on the night, courtesy of Reggae Sun TV, which we also showed in 'The Megabooth' which further enhanced the surroundings in it. So all in all, it was good experience for all of us, both in the performing sense, being able to see what others outside of Jamaica are doing, and from the business aspect of music, with some of us attending the seminars. Hopefully something good musically will come out of this. In the meantime we will continue writing songs, performing and getting our album together. TANTRIC to perform on the Caribbean Music Expo Showcase Nov-10-2000
has been confirmed as being one of the bands to be showcased at this
month's Caribbean Music Expo,
being held November 29 to December 3 in Ocho Rios. The band will be
performing on Wednesday evening, November 29, at The Little Pub. OUR
SONG IS BEING PLAYED ON THE RADIO!!!!!!
Nov-8-2000 On Monday, November 6, 2000, had it's new song "Friends Again" played on the radio, thanks to Kathy Owen on her new show on "The Vibes Connection" on HOT102 FM, and it has been played every day this week since. Rumour has it that FAME FM had played our other original song "Stronger" a few weeks ago, and also IRIE FM should have played it as part of a song competition we entered to get on the CME Show. But this is the first time we as the band members have heard our music played on the radio. THANKS KATHY!!!!!!! Hope to hear the others too! |
