This page goes by broad regional geography, then regional geography, then by city points in alphabetical order, then additional nearby localities (if any).
For example, Independence, Missouri would be – Mid-America – Lower Plains and Mid-South – Lower Plains – The Kansas Cities – Greater Kansas City/Missouri – Independence. Sound confusing ? It's not really. Just go from big to little (or wide scope to narrow scope); or just search for a state and go from there or search for the town.
I saved this page from when I was at the University of Illinois at Chicago, since I had spent so many hours on it (and other regional pages for that matter, most of which are still on a zip disk, except Cal/Tex). Recently, I started to update all the busted links and add new ones.
